Blue is best, though of all the alco-pops the one I would chose at the bar is Smirnoff Ice ( basically Vodka & Lemonade ).
As for why to drink it, horses for courses, different drinks suit different suituations
Down the pub or in a restaurant I would also go for a pint of Bitter, preferably Boddingtons
In a club an alco-pop is good because you carry it round easy and drink lots of it ( to stay hydrated ) without getting wasted.
Out on the lash nothing beats my fav, the Tequila Slammer

I took some of the fine gentleman mezz's advice, got me vodka and some Smirnoff ices, day two of my Christmas bender and it's awesome !!
Smirnoff ices topped up with Russian vodkas , totally awesome
