I like the not many people, little spam method
These are the forums for the GateWa.rs family of text-based space-centred PBBGs

Never involved with those ones no.Cersei Lannister wrote:It is not a method.Sarevok wrote:I like the not many people, little spam method
It is misrepresentation. Your idea requires maturity beyond what we, as a community, can bring forward. Or have you forgotten the admin meets where the loud shouting of 3 - 4 people convinced admin that there was a broad community majority for a few rather targeted updates..
Cersei Lannister wrote:Yes, there is.Sol wrote:Sarevok wrote:Not sure what you mean. I believe the IRC meet for mods and admin still goes on. But not being a moderator (due to inactivity for a while) I wouldn't expect to be permitted to go :p
I meant, are there not mods that are on IRC that could handle most of the spam posts during the admin meet? Last time i checked there was a whole chain of command on there, and i'm pretty sure 99% of the time no one goes on until an admin meet....
You would need to talk to Haz or Paul about it, though. They are opers and admins, I believe.
Massacre wrote:admin meets are posted in there times, is that really so hard? Dont be lazy, its not the admins or forum mods responsibility to remind people that an admin meet is in progress, its there if u want to go to it, the admin sets time aside for the most part to be there. IF you dont show up, obviously your problem ISNT THAT SIGNIFICANT. However for the people in different time zones I dont know what to say about that, there is no resolution in my option, just try to get into one i suppose.

You can't forget though, not all users go on the forums, they don't all know of its existence, when it is, or how to get it working (which is turning into more of an artform now since it trips up 40% of the time).

That's commonly just the user needing to install Java to get the chat working.

Of course, but there is hardly a readily available guide. I guarantee about 50% of the forum community wouldn't know what java is.

It's fueled by coffee, I can tell you that

I think there is a guide somewhere in the IRC section, if not, I'll make one

The section in the forum, the very same forum i mentioned above about not all users go to the forum? In fact quite a large chunk wouldnt.
