Th.at's the real problem, they don't want to spend the time or money to produce a good game

Indeed. To get a good game, they would have to put in a bit more effort and a bit less time than they wish to.

the money needed to get a real money-machine MMO is rather great, as they'd have to outstrip a number of other MMOs. It would be far wiser to make a single-player game with multiplayer elements, or even some MMO-traits. Stealing the customer-base from other MMOs is very hard, whereas taking the player base from single-player games with well-integrated multiplayer elements is fairly easy. You might not be able to hold the player base quite so well, but if you regularly supply both updates to balance and new content without sticking too large a price on it, you should be able to hold quite a few.
MMOs require quite a lot of time to play, while regular non-mmo games can be played just now and then.
(was the above as confuddling in structure as we think it was?)

Lol disappointing post, what happened to you?

Firstly yes SG-1 tv series is returning, just not as a tv series. You see, the tv series is SG-1 so whatever format it returns in then the tv series is returning, dont be narrowed minded to think that when someone says tv series they mean the words they say.

Erm. No. There is a stark difference between SG-1 returning and SG-1 tv series returning. SG-1 existed through more mediums then that of television.. books and failed games being my direct go-to.

So yes.. if someone says the SG-1 tv series is returning then they mean the SG-1 tv series is returning, they don't mean the SG-1 TV series is returning the form of a gaming app as that's not the SG-1 TV series.. that's an SG-1 game. If the person saying SG-1 tv series doesn't mean SG-1 tv series whilst actually discussing a TV series, but instead is discussing an app game as a TV series.. well then they're just an idiot arn't they? It gets more ridiculous when, as Earendil specifically pointed out.. they directly say it is going to be an app, not another TV series thus further supporting the two salient points I was trying to make. 1) there is not going to be a new TV series and 2) there is nothing to suggest there IS going to be a tv series when the article that has caused all the hype directly contradicts that idea.

I'm not sure why you said what you did Clarkster.. but it appeared to be an attempt to troll me. It was uber-fail.

I'll take a recognise for that, thanks.

I believe Stargate will return soon. Why? Because MGM is slowly coming out. They started making the james bond movies again, Im sure/hope in due time that they will make stargate :)

It would be nice to see the old cast back together. Real nice.

PS: In case you haven't seen it yet - I suggest Terra Nova meanwhile. It's a good tv series, a nice concept and it can remind one of SG, in some aspects. It's just a shame they only made one season and Fox canceled it afterwards, although there is some talk about TN going to another network to shoot more.. I really hope that'll happen.

Stargate Returning: Doubtful at least to me, doubt it will be SG1. Another Team, or a futuristic sg program maybe. both sound terrible :-k This is most likely a book, comic, or short-videos similar to RvB (more action, less comedy). The actors got old, and moved on i think. the series did run for 10yrs.

Stargate Game: highly doubtful anything noteworthy would come out. Instead of a skyrim or MMO type game, they should use the original Crysis as a basis maybe even license the CryEngine (although it would cost alot thanks to EA). If you havent played it yet, then your missing out.

Meanwhile: I'll stick to watching Atlantis, SG1 and Sanctuary in the morning. Rest of the day is gaming time. :-D

#-o

If words don't mean what they're defined to mean outside of some machiavellian game and I take them for their definition.. i'm an idiot? Clarkster.. that very idea in itself is stupid. I don't know what you're chatting sir...

If it does come back as a show it will likely have new cast members to keep costs down. And maybe set in the future or past to explain why no fan favorites will be cast. Except for Christopher Judge (Teal'c) and Tony Amendola (Bra'tac)since jaffa have long life spans. But it will probably come back as a comic or game. Perhaps a game like Command and Conquer. And various SG-1 characters will give tutorials. Or maybe it will just be another shooter game. But it would be nice to see RDA play O'Neil again no matter how much weight he gained.

The games failed because they never came out. This suggests management issues rather than market issues. A Stargate RPG properly designed would do pretty well I think.

An MMO would be nice if done right, but MMOs are pretty much guaranteed to fail. I think a better idea would be a F2P mini MMO.

The FPS that actually came out failed because it was just parts of the MMO cut out and reused as an FPS. Oh and because development of the MMO bankrupted Cheyenne Mountain.

I want to see an FPS RPG with MMO elements. Something like Fable 3, but with the MP elements more fleshed out.

The starwars Old Republic didn't do so well. What makes you think a stargate mmorg can do better? Im glad they decided to stop stargate worlds.. it was a good decision on their part

a stargate RTS might work considering the amount of different races.

I believe they need to do an RTS with a space and a ground version if you guys know what I mean. something like startrek armada 2 game mixed in with an age of empire or a starcraft styled ground play. If Blizzard picks up stargate, then I can see stargate doing amazing things

It would have to be built up far differently from traditional RTS games... There's a lot of races, they're not balanced both in size and placement, technologically they differ greatly, and there's quite a few that have some importance yet wouldn't work against the others on a whole...
Most likely a mix between a grand galactic map like turn-based games have, real-time strategy for large battles and generally small groups for the tactical parts. possibly with changes between those modes at almost random times.
No game engine we know of would be capable of supplying that level of varied control and interchangeability. A few might be capable of providing it to some degree, but not sufficiently well. So one would have to be built.

.............guess what, I have to write an exam soon, and the reading comprehension is my weakest part of that exam.. so you might be right.

BUT you have to explain how you might be correct, so write a proper post and prove that I need to work on my reasoning skills.
