As suggested before, find an alliance, interact with said alliance, learn from said alliance. Do that or build up a defense to defend your income.

I say join DDE (or at least apply I am not knowledgeable enough of DDE affairs to know if they have open enrollment) You could get a lot of fun out of that if you want to go the war with everyone route. If thats the case those are the people to show you how its done.

Might I recommend learning what to do before inviting war. Either join a peaceful alliance and learn to play then join a war alliance and learn their way, or join a war alliance and get beaten around whilst learning.

I enjoyed my getting beaten up phase alone, I still kinda do. It's easier in some ways, no one else to worry about.
