On topic, please. The nomination idea is something worth a thought.

Newcomer is up for debate almost every year. Whereas the old debate used to be how do you define it or really know (we used to do a good job of actually hunting down non-newcomers and defined it as someone who started playing in that year), it should perhaps be redefined. Something like 'didn't know they played, now I do' though it'd have to be condensed.

i thought this is what it always was?
not so much a "new this year" more of a "hey never noticed you until you popped up and started being a beast this year"?

For the anniversary year, it would be neat to do something in regards to the history of the game. Like a category of "Biggest Impact on... etc." awards

ie. Biggest Impact on Game Play/Updates
Biggest Impact on Politics
Biggest Impact on Main Forum
Biggest Impact on Diplomacy


essentially, Historical Moments awards.
Not just for the passed year, but something to represent the history of the game itself and all those that have contributed. Hard to police, but seeing how you were here for the majority of it Semps, I think you would be able to work it

Indeed, but they will generally just be voted by their alliance, so biggest alliance wins. These awards are for their impact on the community.

Speaking of which can we get rid of the stipulation that you cannot vote for your own alliance? All that does is make say TATS vote for TA and TA vote for TATS or, more likely, Mayhem to vote for TDD and vice versa.

We all know this is a popularity contest and nobody likes anybody outside of their faction.
