Teesdale is right with some of those meals lol. If memory serves me correctly this is what I got last year:-

Small pack of chipolatas
Bread
Jam
Homebrand noodles (beef as they were out of my fav oriental ones lol)
cheap 50c pack of wafers
Tin of spaghetti

This year however it will be a little different.

tbh though, (it's £5 in the UK), i'd end up with a loaf of bread or two (about £1 each) and then some peanut butter (another £1) and just see what I can do with the last £2.

Good luck Odin, great concept.

One does wonder whether water is considered free? :) Or is this a food-only type situation? Either way, much respect for your initiative.

Water is free (luckily as I drink a lot of the stuff lol) some people tweak their experience to also have their money only cover travel expenses and things like that which is no problem for me at the moment as I do not drive lol. Basically its a food only thing and thank you very much :)

Hm? That's lavish by comparison. Where have you got that number from?

$2 AUD is £1 GBP.

£5 a day would come with a maccas sundae for desert every night >.>

Although, with that said, KFC has $1 chips now... are you allowed fast food? :D

Lidil does waffels for 70p
Penne pasta 29p
Meatballs 40

Tis a good think I quit smoking Jan 1st 2014 lol, We are in Australia so things are a bit different over here. We don't have Lidil or Tesco, our big chains are Woolworths Coles and I guess Aldi (they are a lot smaller but grow by the year) and we just recently started to get a few Costco's.

It's fun shopping around and thinking of food idea's. Some people buy big items then work out the cost/portion size ratios etc, I'm a simple dude that is to much for me lol. I just buy stuff the comes to or less then $10AUD for the 5 days.

tbh Aldi is far far cheaper for non perishable foods, tins ect... but coles or woolies are cheaper for fresh food and produce.

Go pizza hut, the one near me is 5.95 but I'm sure in London you can find ones for less and just starve for 2 days then hit the buffet and walk away with pizza in your pockets.

Or Chinese buffet but that may be messier.
