I don't quite understand a couple of things

Ok, so you have a stargate, and you want go about your merry way attacking pple. How do you get the addys of other pple? Is it just a conceptual thing, in that launching an attack on another with a stargate means you know it, by whatever means? Would it be that you know another's addy based on their spy/covert lvl?

If you need to send spys though to go to the base and figure out the addy(as the SGC was infiltrated with footholds, retu, goa'uld taking SGC hosts and in the Trust, etc.) then other pples addys could be sold on the black market, ebay, etc. That way providing at addys to other pple, without doing the work for it. Well, that's trading you say? Sure it is, just like is done now. But, in providing info. for cash, in my opinion, takes away from the game. It would become more like a business than a game, as is already happening.

I guess I'm getting into more of a philosop. discuss. about the ethics of playing and players getting cash for it. Just some thoughts.

what if you had gates similar to motherships...?

let's say it costs 400,000,000 to purchase, you then can spy on people and, if you're powerful enough, you'd get their gate address. The address would then be stored in a directory available to you (and commander? like your attack/intelligence report?) to be accessed at any time. The point of a directory would be to prevent people from randomly entering addresses and getting them correct.

once a gate is purchased, you could invest in an iris, costing several hundred million naq, and possibly upgrade to a trinium reinforced iris. Other upgrades could be UAV's, which would boost your covert. MALP's which, in theory, could aid your Attack. Some other ideas could include gategliders (gou'ld deathglider modified to fit a stargate), those missle things they had in one episode, any maybe SG teams (?).

I think this could work, and would prompt people to spy on people before attacking, which would get them a gateaddress. Attacking through a gate would boost the attack, similar to what the Mothership does.

sounds nice, but lets get the fleet idea placed into affect befoe we go installing star gates, but here a question for you,

how the hell do you buy a stargate LOL, its not like they are available in an intergallatic shop :shock:

Perhaps...but only if your mothership won the duel with the defending mothership :D .

no one answers me , ill ask again how would you buy a stargate, makes no sense , they cant be made, (none of the people buying stargates will be ancient , so cant make em ;) )

maby 1 way is higher achioligest team or something like that who once u do that find the gate for u and charge 400 mill or what ever a gate will cost. the stargates could add an intire new element to the game if htey attak diferent things. if u had iris's they should take 80% of your income or something like that to keep up and a min of 3 hours up and u cant have both covert alert and iris if u did have both covert alert and iris u acualy loose naq by doin that. the data base is a good idea and would stop triading but random addresses may be good aswell as if u find one and attak loose and that is your own fault. maby insted of spying to find addresses u buy a location prob and build it up and people can build probe scramberers or something like that so u have another covert kind of thing and if the prob looking wasnt as good as teh scramberers u dont find the adress or something along thoes lines as the stargate address have to do with your location in space

How about the assumption that we're all on diff. planets(ie. Just because I'm Tauri doesn't mean I'm on Earth, and my alpha site is the same as the alpha site on the show). Alliances then become between planets/solar systems/galaxies

Since we all have our own planet, why not all have a gate on it, we just need to find it(purchase it)

It's a streach of the imagination but it works...maybe

just say the stargate is on your planet/realm already and you have to spend some naq to find it then some more to research it

hey, the Tollan made a stargate themselves. We'd just...purchase the plans from them! And the Nox know how to make them, they taught the Tollan.

If your opponent has a mothership, I mean lets face it they have a nice big fighter bay, crew complement and cargo hold. If you had a mothership the point of getting a stargate seems moot.

But i do like the idea of them if you can build them in with the motherships, ie you could choose which one to use for an attack maybe? And if its your mothership then your attack could be limited as you can only carry so much rather than send everything through the gate

Okay, what if you use the Stargate to go and kill UU? An Iris comes default, but is like defensive action. I can have the iris destroying device (see the GU logo in my sig) and you can resist it with a better iris.

We could get new race bonuses here too, based on what the iris costs to enhance.

Replis have to lose a soldier to spy (costs UU)
Tauri have the Malp, which is expensive (costs Naq)
Asgard use time dialation (costs turns)
Goa'uld use a force-field (damages def weapons)

I actually bothered to watch that part of the episode. They didn't say that. There is no cannon proof in that episode that they made their gate with the Nox's help.
