On a break from exams(woo!),
Philisophical side:
I think that the distinction people have made between the possibility or validity in a claim of killing off an account is based on what you consider to be destroying an account.
Two possibilities exist, as I see them, to remove the standing your account has to a mere shadow of it's former self: Repeated attacks, and sab attempts. Like it has been mentioned earlier, you can only really go so far sabbing until you run into a brick wall(activity in realm message), however you are limited by naq on hand(to repair) and turns in attacks against accounts, which I believe was also mentioned has no real limit. You can consider killing an account to be removing most of the players weapons, solders, etc. and turn you back on the whole mess, take it a step further and maintain attacks sabs to keep and account low in the grand scheme of things, or whatever you think might be the end of an ingame account
Granted if you irk the wrong player, or if a powerful player is in the mood, they can remove much of what the player has stiven so long and hard to achieve through repeated attacks, or sabs. Each of which damage your weapons, and unless repaired or replaced in a timely fashion will join all the trained soldiers lost in battles in Valhalla for the rest of their afterlife.

The question then becomes whether you
want to do that to an account. It isn't uncommon for a dispute to start on the forum and be taken ingame. For example, I have strongly considered reducing a few account to dust due to certain criteria with they violated. It's easier to settle disputes with attacks/sabs but, in my opinion, true composure is found in solving disputes what ever they may be peacefully. At teh same time, as a rather frank player once stated, this is Startgate Wars, not Stargate Peace

.
If you choose to remove much of the standing or hard work a player has put into an account, do not be so quick to assume that you won't feel the sharp end of an attack or sab as restitution for past transgressions. It is possible to hire players with well off account to attack/sab for you. Rates vary depending on the account being hit, and repair cost are pretty much covered by the person placing the hit. So while you may hit one player, they can hire someone to reduce your account to the the bottom of your hamper. Also, players can delete their account and start anew, although they will lose any hard work they put into UP, covert levels, etc. (not such a big deal if they didn't really have too much to start with).
So, all in all, the question is do you want to reduce an account to a shadow of it's former self kowing that it can come back to bite you in the backside, not, when can I destroy all that stand before me. A question for the ages no doubt.
