In my oppinion it's Uchiha Itachi. Noone can compare to his Mangekyo Sharingan ... I wouldn't wanna get caught in his Amaterasu or Tsukuyomi.
I would name Orochimaru but he is pale compared to Itachi.
Ashram from Lodoss war isn't too shabby.
As for aizen souske (i know this is gonna make me loob like a newb) - in which anime is he?

Mitsuomi Takayanagi from Tenjou Tenge is one of the coolest bad guys i've seen in any anime to date.
Though my anime dictionary is still growing so he may be replaced soon lol

and yea.. i have to agree with u .. atm hes the Best Bad guys i've seen .. i love his deductive skills .. and his brains

I'd say uchiha itachi, infact he's my favorite character from naruto all together.
I'm not sure if Light qualifies as a bad guy, because he is trying to improve the world. Lights case is a tough call, but if he falls under bad guy, well he'd be the best.
Personally i think of Light as a good guy doing a good deed in a bad way.

Light isn't a bad guy.
He is just removing criminals from the face of the earth. While some may disagree, he's just doing what he thinks is necessary to create his perfect world.

hmmmmm, Itachi & Aizen are both very big bad guys compare to most
if naruto would be a bad guy soon, then il say this: He would be wayyyy cooler then those two above simply cause naruto rocks (yes, i love naruto in the kyuubi form)
but untill then....him....if we do a bit of thinking, aizen Never actually Uses Bankai, & that alone makes the power of a person go haywire/skyrocket....
but then again, Itachi also barly shows his power.......all we know is that he is VERY fast, can use the ultimate (Painfull) Form of sharingan....i might have left something out so some1 correct me if i did....
so....its a draw in m opinion...
unless we concider Zarakai's Nice comic about itachi & orochimaru
