he might'ave been killed, or maybe just seriously wounded, but then, the monkey re-started that curse, and who knows what that did to barbosa?

Well Barbarossa was shot in the heart by Sparrow.. He should've been dead, but seeing the monkey, we could say that..
Sparrow shot Barbarossa, while Sparrow, Liz & Will were going away, the monkey took pieces from the treasure and made Barbarossa Undead again. Anyway, they might just explain it in the 3rd movie when it come out, they can't leave such mystery about him!

what I don't understand is if Jack got eaten, how would going to the end of the world help...
and if the world is round, how does that work??

Because, he's not necessarily dead, remember that it's Jones that controls Kraken, so maybe it was just a "catch him and bring him back for an eternity of servitude blah blah"

It wasnt known in that time that the world was round. If ya watched the movey they guy who wanted the kompass was putting places on the map. There it said that the world was flat
