I'll attempt to flesh this out a bit now that there seems to be a lot of support for the idea. (Im heavily borrowing from the Galactus theme)
Occasionally people notice some of their resources disappearing, nothing big. Just like 20 UU here, or 1mil naq there. (More or less depending on the power of the character. That way Living Gods cant hide out in rank 25,000 and pay only 20 naq or something to the superbeing.) But nothing major.
To stymie the people screaming about what happened to their resources, a PM is sent throughout the game announcing that a being has arrived from the beyond. <Insert Superbeing Name here.> His purpose is to bring balance and destruction to all we know and love. <insert story of him here> Over time he will continue taking away small amounts of resources at certain times. (Or random, doesnt matter.)
The Superbeing will show up as an actual alliance on the alliance list with a power rating and all. He also shows up as a player, but because he is so unbeliveably powerful he MUST show up as an entire alliance as well.
Superbeing has stats upgraded beyond ascension because he has after all, been around since the beginning of time. Once a month perhaps he will feed, sucking away very small amounts of peoples realms and replenishing himself. (Take this with a grain of salt. If you have an army of 100, maybe like 2 UU being taken, and so on.)After this feeding he has ridiclous power. Therefore when you begin your attack on him, the clock is ticking. (Once the month is up, he is completely revived!!)
When you decide to go into direct assault against the superbeing, he also begins taking more resources from you because now you have caught his attention. Single players may not attack him because it would be obvious suicide. A players alliance must have a pre-determined amount of power to fight him as well. (Changed over time as alliances grow more powerful.) When he will be attacked, the alliance leader must declare war on this superbeing. Then all players from that alliance will go to war and can attack him at any time. (If a regular player or small alliance DOES try to attack him, they can receive message exhorting them to become more powerful first.)
The beauty of this is as other alliances get stronger, he will as well because there are more resources for the superbeing to suck away from people every month, so he will never become stagnant or easily beatable after time. He dynamically becomes more and more powerful as the rest of the game becomes stronger in stats.
The player will be an NPC in most ways. He will not actively attack anyone in the game. He will merely keep gathering resoures from everyone once a month. If you do decide to declare war at him, then he will begin attacking back. (With new names for his attacks, befitting his station.) The superbeing has no army of his own, but things like punching entire armies with his fists, blasting them with beams from his hands, etc. Imagine entire galactic FLEETS struggling to defeat this monster that has the power to crush planets with his fists!)
If, and when the superbeing is eventually defeated then I think one of the following would be a good idea:
A) The alliance receives a staggering reward of some kind, like +500% to their UP for a week, one week of PPT if desired etc. (Im not going to define here, its too broad. Just an extraordinary gift for waging such an incredible war.
B) Something that will fundamentally change the game temporarily, like allowing miners to be raided for a 10 minute period or all players being given 0 defense for 5 minutes, etc. until the universe "realigns itself" from the titanic battle being fought. (Considering it will be a very dramatic change, of course it will be VERY temporary.)
Finally, after his defeat giving a certain period of time for the superbeing to reconstitute himself. (like 2-3 months maybe.) It should be enough time that he can become a superpower again and not easily defeated, but not take everyones resources too fast.
So thats some of the thoughts I gathered in about a 10 minute period. (lol) Of course, I think putting a roster somewhere of alliances/players the defeated him would be nice as well. In other words, its not really a "quest" you are fighting, but a player himself. (Computer controlled more then likely.)
Any thoughts guys? Im trying to flesh this out without going overboard.
