First time - nothing
Second time - planet found

So, they are out there.

I'm intrigued by J.S.'s idea of sectors - needs some expansion though.

Wahoo an Idea Wolf is interested in, anywho My MS went out again there last night nothing found  hehe

In fact, your mothership crew report that the totally unoccupied planets are either dangerously low in supply, or gone completely.

The sector Idea came from Star Trek which I am also a huge fan of in fact thats the whole reason I started watching Stargate aka the movie etc..

According to the Star trek Fact Files a sector in space is a hexagon shape and if you had a vertical map of space i.e. North at the top South at the botthom, the hexagon would sit flat, this is also used in the Starfleet Command games See Fig 1.

Fig 1. - Starfleet Command 3 Sectors

As you can see you are in the sector and you have 6 options on which sector you would like to move to..

Also a sector in Space is 20 lightyears wide at all points.. Capable of fitting upto 10 Solar Systems within it or more depending on how close you are to the centre of the galaxy..

The reason I have selected 10,000 sectors is becuase if you had any less it would be far too easy to find planets and with 25,000 + real players in the game it wouldnt take them long to scout for planets in say a 1000 sector system..

At least with 10,000 your always looking... Because then you can pay people to find planets etc..

So if anyone is good at coding you can just rip it from that (you didn't hear it from me) I have absolutely no idea how to code it for this game so ya if I could I would haha

The Basics of my Idea

10,000 sectors ranging from 0000 - 9999

Each sector is capable of holding 10 Solar Systems each solar system is capable of holding between 5-10 planets, maybe one of them suitable for life in each one..

If you "Dump" a planet or abondon a planet you have to choose a sector to abondon it in again ranging from 0000 - 9999

You get new Technology upgrades for your Mothership and when you are going to attack somoene your new long range Atlantean/Ancient Sensors can pick up planets in one of the 6 sectors surrounding the sector you explored or 3 if your on the edge..

MY IDEA PLAN B

Okay after talking to a mate of mine, the genius that he is he said that what I am proposing is going to be VERY hard and complicated to code.. So my brain working faster then I can speak I came up with another Idea and this is a work in progress... I don't want to reveal what it is at the moment because well I want to try and finish it properly first..

So if Wolf or Forum can contact me on MSN I shall present my Plan B Idea

Also if this works planet Pirates will no longer be able to what they do best because you will have a sector to hide your planet in..

Ok gotta go brainstorm with my mate...

Chat later

Again, from what I recall, there is an element of randomness - so the figure quoted above is based on the random element.

I remember it saying 30-40 sightings to get a planet. And whenever you search for a planet, when it gets back you can have like 40 sightings and you still dont get a planet.
