Yes, we could definentely make a SGW 3d game, but it wouldnt be SGW, wed call it Stargatewarscraft or something!!

The Starcraft engine would be a good "vehicle" for this idea.

I love SGW. SGWC would have some differences, but in the end they would be two seperate games with clear distinctions in gameplay!!

This idea has been brought up before and every time it has been shot to pieces.

This time will be no different. I don't want to see snazzy graphics etc - it is not why I play the game!!

a 3d MMORPG, you'll need modelers to model the characters, texture artist for the many textures needed, someone who make the weapon models and sprite or what ever they will shoot, need sounds and you need a programmer to throw it all together.

I'm sure Forum has enought trouble with the game as is, making it 3d instead of browser based would be asking way to much.

it would cost too much to even try to make it 3d. and like Replicatez2 said, Stargate-SG1 The Alliance will be coming out by the end of this year. (wish theyd give us more updates tho) if ud like to go to the site and see for yourself its http://www.stargate-thealliance.com

I think the one thing you don't understand is how much goes into the server side of such a game. Rarely is it talked about but http://www.eve-online.com has talked about their server setup a couple times just to show players what its about I don't know if you can still access those dev releases or not. But to make a real MMORPG is a million dollar investment it isn't something that just gets done. If you are talking about making something lame like Star Sonata then it isn't worth it cause it would be lame. Either way it isn't gonna happen go play EverCrack 2.

(First post back for a while. Nice to see you all again. Now, on to business... [edit] Man, I go away for a week or so, and madness breaks out. Note to self, don't go away for more than three days, else chaos erupts here. [/edit])

What PHOENIX7777 is talking about is an MMORTS game, not an MMORPG (though the distinction in this case isn't too great).

Make this game an MMORTS? Sorry, but it's just not practical. Contact some giant company if you want to try it. Don't waste our time here.

(OTOH, make access to the server free, and you'll have me after I get a new video card.)

BTW, all caps is hard to read. That's why most people don't type like that.

i've played runescape, i hated it because of the "lines" to complete quests, and just how it worked.

duplication leads to simply to repitition and then sgw's is nothing differant than most games out there, and then there's little reason to actually play it.

i'd perfer a unique game off of this system now, than the months of time it would take to program and graphics processing of this game you're suggesting, if you really like the idea, i completely encourage you to make this type game yourself, but not change sgw's to suit your desires.
