Alright to be honest the first season was great, then there was the second season which was complete BS but by the sounding of this season 3 might be actually half decent...

Ep 1 of series 3 is on this Thursday in Australia.
For me, the fascination with Lost lies in that it is such a tease. It unravels it's secrets so slowly, rather than a brazen flash. You come out of every ep with a dozen theories on what is happening, and yet 4 shows later you are proved wrong.
Is anyone still into the "Purgatory" theory? Personally I think that The Others are sorting them into good and bad. That's why the took the kids first up. And also why they have asked for Sawyer, Jack and Kate. Because they swing back and forth, and The Others want to find out where their true polarity is. IE Sawyer started out bad boy, but has shown his worth a few times...before slipping back into the dark side. And Jack was Captain Good at the start of the series, but has become more obsessed, doing deeds that are a means to his ends.
Buuuuut still all a theory. I am in no hurry to find out either.
Edit - Titanium just came in and read this over my shoulder. He thinks they are all dead. And that's why their health problems have been resolved.
