will get my UP to 20k raw & do a comparision between what i did & what you guys are saying. if what i see looks good enough, then i will do it in 2 or 3 months when i ascend again

A 55k UP ascension would cost you 2,520,879,166,667 Naquadah to get the UP, about 100bill for the ascending, and something like 2m UU to ascend. 2m UU costs 1.2trill right now at BM rates. The remaining 1.3trill could have been used to rebuild the main account afterwards.

still, if omega or DD decides to descend you and you're in a non cop allaince you do not stand a chance... so, yeah, badass ascentions are a waste of main resources atm.
UNLESS you are a really big player yourself so that you can get enough power up there to withstand being farmed, raided and all that.

Thats all its used for but you can trade ALF for power ups and DMU.
