i think he is referring to the entire forum..........

threads seem to be locked ALOT more then they used to.........and it does take alot out of the experience in visiting this forum

it is normal for a forum to let threads just die on their own............

this forum seems to try to micro-manage everything more then most forums I visit

I will die of laughter if I find this thread locked later today ..........

hi 311 sorry modssssssssss :-D

hahahah

I can't beleive some of you guys. Everyone has a go when a mod does anything even slightly out of line- you guys compain so much that now, even if a thread is obviously out of line any mod even slightly involved wont touch it in a barge pole.

Come off it. We all know its our fault, the reason everything gets locked is because we pile into a thread spamming-the thread may have been out of date and should be allowed to die, but NO, we have to pile in and spam untill someone is forced to lock it. If there weren't so many locked threads there'd be a thread exactly like this saying that the mods are inactive. Stop blaming the mods- start blaming ourselves for feeling the need to spam all over the place.

Quite a few of us do, granted not all, but we do have to mod alot of things because a few people decide to break the rules. Give us a bit more rope...

It's just the few who you see appearing in the "mods are bent" threads, "Mods shouldn't do this", "this is an outrage" thread, and then you also see them saying "the mods don't do enough"

i assume they dont bother PMing them to find out why, i PM'd Geisha (sorry if i spelled it wrong 80% rum :-D ) about my thread an she unlocked it withing 30secs. i dont think they bother to think about it or anything and just decide to blame the mods. and geisha is in omega and im in TA so there isnt mod bias, atleast not with her :-D

Crap... I unlocked a topic that was started by a non-CoP member? Damn I must have been really drunk... What's your ID? I'm afraid I'm gonna have to mass you for that now.

j/k ;)

I always post why I lock a topic. In your case it was because there was so much chaos about the new updates and people were starting new topics every 2 minutes... Your thread was valid, so I fixed it. I believe all mods handle it like this.

I try to lock as less as possible.. but if you guys want to go through pile of spam, just say so... tho I still think there are peeps who want to read topics which are actually about something, not pure pointless spam.

Pm flavour then, all that needs to be done.

Dealing with mods isn't hard, as long as you don't turn on the insults

There is an "Official Thread of Spam" in This and That, even though the temple is unavailable. If you need a fix, I suggest going there.

Profitteroles wrote:I don’t know much about modding but I have noticed of the past couple of months the amount of locked threads has risen it seams like 1 in 3 threads are locked and it never used to be this way so I have to ask is locking all these threads completely necessary, there have been a couple of threads that I would have liked to comment on but they are locked within minutes of the mod thinking the thread is done with and im sure there are many occasions for example a war where the war finishes, mod locks thread, war starts up again.

What does everyone else think?

I understand your concern Profitteroles.

I believe the increase in locking recently has been due to the fact that a lot of threads are made in inappropriate sections or are just copies of another thread elsewhere.

As mods, we would rather an existing thread is used rather than starting a new thread on the same subject.

To the Mods: If you are going to lock a topic then I would suggest that in every case you post why you are locking the thread and, if appropriate, provide a link to another (open) thread.

Secondly, once you have locked it - if it is because it was a duplicate of another thread (hopefully you provided a link), then delete it after a couple of days - anyone who was interested in it should by now have found the other thread.

If you lock it because of inappropriate content etc, then again - wait for a day or 2 and then remove it to the dump.

If you are unsure - then move it to the dump, stating why it was moved there - hopefully then one of the ther mods/admins will be able to offer advice.
