If we used the concept of planets for people than the crunch for space wouldn't be a problem each person could have a planet and with the more territory he gains his planet gets bigger so #1 would have a big planet This was you could have territorial gains and with that the game or maybe a different game opens up to alot of different capabilites such as places to attack on a persons planet ect.
details would have to be worked out i think that covers all the problems listed above maybe an idea for another game for whoever might want to pick it up

Well, the number of stargate addresses in 7 cheverons is appoximately 63.6 billion, so we won't be running out of stargate addresses anytime soon.

lol, and then there is also the fact that to have 63.6 billion gate's you would half to have 63.6 billion habitable planet's (give or take one or two.)
Which would take up a crapload of space.
This map would take at least 5 month's of work to make, perhaps more like a year to make or two years for all the soler system map's and various other things that would half to be added.

That's assuming that each symbol is not repeated. if so, then it's 38^6 addresses. (63.6 bill ~= 38!/32!)

Well, taking our solar system as an example, you'd want to be able to industrialize other planets in the system and perhaps make it a binary system if there's a big enough gas giant.
Let's not forget randomization, though.

if the planet map thing is going to happen which is not likely but anway if it does
everyone will get a gate and a gate address attcking ppl will require A) ships B) there gate address C) or both..........the u would add population and since there are so many players there would be too much lag

you can have it like this: you set up say 100,000 planets and each race would have 1. you can have NPCs own some planets. then when say fox attacks or builds a base on a planet it will be owned by all replicators and any replicator can put a base there to if anyone in your race attacks another race and takes there planet all of your races gets it! so when some one new join the replicators they can pick where to put there base! and make it so that 100 base can be put on each planet. and have 10 galaxys, with 100,000 planets each and each planet can have 100 bases!!! that would work and would not take that much time! all you need is a map, to color it when a race takes a planet and BAM!!!!

If they were going to do a map i think that it should just be a general map of top 1000 players and hom much space you get be based on your total power. What ever %of the power you have in the top 1000 is how big your area is. location on the map should have luttle affect on game play to make it eaiser it would just be something to look at.
It might also show alliances and where they stand on the map also along with a way to show commanders and there officers.

OK, now for my idea. I know this isn't going to happen, so you can just ignore it.
What I would like to see if a setup similar to that used in StarDart for the galaxy map. You start off at a random point in the galaxy with a small amount of ships and some ground troops. You can go around conquering planets with them. Unlike StarDart, though, you can have multiple fleets moving about, conquering in your name, and waging war.
Beyond flying around, though, the game ceases StarDart similarity. Battles seem more like RTS-style than anything else, but with much more detail and levels on terrain, including things like caves. Battles for a planet include ground-based combat and space combat. Perhaps you could directly take control of troops for a touch of action-game.
Now, THAT would be cool! Too bad we're going to have to wait for TeraHertz systems and Exobyte RAMs for them to even get close.

That would be a great idea so you could have a visual image of your teritory but with how many players there are the map would ether have to be very big or the realms small.
