If you mean the japanese "go", then yes it is a professional sport. People make hundreds of thousands of $ a year, as well as honor and the chance to prove their skill at the oldest game in the world through Asian(and other places) go tournaments.

Hmm...there are quite afew tournament level events for it, though i dunno if it's concidered a professional sport. :/

Sounds like a plan for the next SGW meet up, Mini Golf Tournament then Bowling comp, proper golf comp ? Footie ? 5 a side ?

I love Go/Igo.
There is something about it... the unique formations, the 'suffocation' of pieces, the inability for computer replication... Of all the games similar in vein to chess, I prefer Go.

I played computer go once, i had the comp doing what ever i wanted it too.
But yeah i agree, in my opinion go is better then chess or any other game by far. it's just got that special feel to it that a lot of other games don't.
