I stayed up 37 hours non-stop at new year tho was on comp about 20 hours at that time, was outside and all these things for other time, but 5.5 days?!THAT'S INSANE!
I mean, don't u have life or anything like that? Is SGW life for you or what? I mean, I know some have enough money that don't need to work at all but I wouldn't spend all that time in front of my comp playing SGW...I mean, 7 days, INSANE

Hmm....I've pulled all-nighters doing essays, and by midday the next day I've been spark out - I mean literally fell asleep leaning against a wall in the street.
To stay awake for that long - dang. If you really did it - without having the odd hours sleep here or there - then congrats. Though I gotta ask....Why woudl you want to?

it was back in the days before the limits were placed on SGW, but yeah i had class, but well i would put off leaving for 10 mins, and then i would be 5 mins late i'am no i don't want to do that, and so i kept going, as for staying awake wolf is correct in that much
Makes me think does he work in an intel camp.
but it's a problem, take out a blessing and a curse. As for the insane bit, well that would explain a bit.

There was a story posted once about a radio disc jockey who stayed on air for 7 straight days as a promotional gig. He did make the 7 day mark and the ratings were great.
Later his wife told the world it killed him.
His entire being changed. He went from being a "happy go lucky" type of person to being moody. He went from being kind to being abusive. He had never touched his wife until after the gig. He beat her so badly one night he put her in the hospital.
It was a bout 1 yr and 3 months later he was dead. Listed as natural causes. They could never pin down what killed him exactly.
I do think age plays a definite role in this discusion as I could go to a party on fri night and leave sun night when I was a teenager. Now missing a nights sleep takes me days to recover from.

I was awake for 48 hours once cue to jet lag and time zone changes but Wolf is right you can't stay up that long without lapsing into some form of sleep for short periods of time. REM sleep would be impossible to reach but you would doze off from time to time. I'm taking psych and I'm sure Wolf has a higher education so if you don't believe us look ip up.

This is true becuase its in the Guinness book of records.. And cos I attempted something similar 3 years ago.. I only made 4 and a half days non stop, it was impossible you had to be on the air every three minutes in order to break the record.. I also had to have 2 doctors present after 24 hours, just incase I suffered a heart attack (I know at 19 years old who would think it)
It was during one of Damien Rices songs (why oh god why would you play that on radio is beyond me? ) that my head hit the table and that was that.. They recorded me snoring live on air and used it for competitions for about a year.. Good times.. lol
I have often stayed up for 2 days straight and gone to work but I have found that on the second/third day you can not concentrate fully, or even at all.. And the longer periods you stay awake in your life you will end up doing more long term damage in later years.. Such as alzhiemers.. (Spelling)
Also if you have ever stayed awake for a long period of time your heart begins to strain, and you feel a kind of crushing pain in your chest. Your heart can only go for so long before "over-heating" and once your heart overheats there is less blood pumping around your body and no oxygen etc.. This is why you initally get tired.. Using things like caffiene is very bad for your heart and those that drink it more then a few times a week will have severe complications from around their 40's..
People really need to think about tomorrow and not just about today.. I would hate it if I couldn't remember who my family and friends were and hate it even more if I have to reply on others all the time becuase when I was 20 I drank endless amounts of caffene and stayed awake for days on end.. Sighs... Oh well.. That made me tired time for a coca cola..

(What I am young and don't really care about what's wrong with my body in 10 years time thats 10 years from now) lol

100% fact you cannot stay awake for 7 days without any spcial tablets etc
And even if you use tablets...the only one who can keep you awake for 7 days would be the one tested now in the military...but I doubt it...
Sorry to say but I am 99,999% certain that is imposible...even so this should be in this and that

lol just thought i'd quote something i found for ya'll
The current world record for the longest period without sleep is 11 days, set by Randy Gardner in 1965. Four days into the research, he began hallucinating. This was followed by a delusion where he thought he was a famous footballer. Surprisingly, Randy was actually functioning quite well at the end of his research and he could still beat the scientist at pinball.
So its quite clearly not impossible but highly unlikely

Wolf359 wrote:I do not believe that is no sleep at all - medically the body cannot cope - even after 24 hours of no sleep neurons in the brain start becoming overworked and do strange things.
between 3 - 5 days of no sleep incurs hallucinations - it is also at this point that there is a risk of brain damage and/or insanity.
People may believe that they are awake for days on end - but the reality is that even though they may think they are aware of things around them, they dip in and out of brain wave sleep, sometimes for as little as periods of 10 - 15 seconds many, many times during the day, without even realising it.
You also get things called micro-sleeps which are even shorted period of REM sleep. Your body simply can't survive that long without sleep so it forces the matter. And even then as has been pointed out it can severely harm your personality as well as the possible physical aspects.
The longest period of sustained work I have done is 48 hours and even then I found myself dozing off at the computer. Not fun at all but you know what its like 2 days till deadline, very little work done!!

I did not sleep properly since Monday, but I do try to sleep 3 hours at least to not suffer such bad effects. I do not believe people are able to remain completelly sane after 7 days without sleep.

Well to be honest, I'm having trouble sleeping, and its already affecting my concentration... Its always in my maths lessons where I find my self about to dose off....
I don't think I could ever pull an all nighter.
Speaking of sleep....
