Luckily, MGM aren't quite as zealous as Lucasfilm. But stargate is indeed copyrighted.

Actually the word itself, STARGATE is not copyrighted.
Theta Sigma

Someone needs to tell MGM that then :p

The word "Stargate" isn't copyrighted but it is trademarked, although a much earlier use of "Stargate" was by Williams Electronics in 1981 when they released the sequel to "Defender".

It's really a moot argument either way. MGM has sufficient corporate funding and legal counsel that if they wanted to pursue shutting down this site on trademark violations, they could do so with relative ease. I highly doubt that Jason would be willing and/or able to fight a court battle with MGM that could last for years and cost millions.

Better to simply fly under the radar...

As such, if you exceed $600 in a year from the sale of SGW goods, you would no longer be able to claim the profit as a hobby and would instead have to file as business profit.

Naturally, the likelihood of being caught is low but the IRS does randomly audit approximately 1% of US taxpayers each year and deposits to your bank account with no record keeping would certainly not escape their attention.

Only 600 $? I think here it's allowed to be up to 3000 $

And after that you have to file it as a business profit and pay taxes.

But I'm quite sure alot of US players have sold resources for alot more then 600$, are you saying they could get away with it? Without paying taxes of it I mean.

Its all through paypal so its no something they can easily check
It could have been a sale of something second hand on ebay.
Or a friend sending you some cash

Thats why is pays to not be american. Irish gov. doesnt nothing about gmaing incomes and very little about paypal. if paypal is well known here its not really talked about. plus having a gf in america justifies me. :D and when i go to america it will justify it then(mom sending cash) :D

if you dont withdraw the money how do they know you have it? keep the cash in paypal. i havent studied US tax alot yet but I know more than enough to hide things in ireland :D :D :D

another solution to avoid income tax is to register a company. i have

Well, in spite of our atrocious tax rates, this American gets paid. Paid pretty well, actually. ;)
