Pookie, to blame the current war for the state of the community is wrong - it may have exacerbated it - but the rot had already set in long before, and doesn't seem likely to move in the near future!

I left the game because of real life issues - but believe me I had been on the brink of leaving many times previously, only to be persuaded not to by other SGW-ers. My reasons for wanting to leave were due to what the game had become and the kind of person it was turning some people into - and that became most prevalent from their in-game messages and abuse of the forum - but more importantly because nobody was willing to do what was necessary to put it right.

Which brings me to the forum - some of the gutter level antics that go on in this forum disgust me, but despite leaving the game I volunteered to stay on and try to make it better - for a while I thought we were succeeding, but that was short-lived - and the last couple of months have been the most unbearable - with accusations and nastiness coming from many people on all sides - some of whom should know better.

But the crap got too much and I quit from my modding duties too.

Now, I'm willing to bet that 99% of those people who post all the crap on this forum wouldn't say 'boo' to a goose in real life - so why do it here? Does it make them feel tough, hiding behind a monitor and the internet? Who knows? Perhaps they're the type of anal dweeb who cowers in the corner and wets themself if someone so much as looks in their direction, and being abusive and obnoxious on an RPG forum is the only way they can get their jollies?

Unfortunately - it only takes one or two bad eggs to spread the rot - and once they start spouting forth their drivel, it aggravates the more sensible posters who simply fall foul of responding - and before you know it their is a flame war full of insults, cheap jibes and death threats.

Aries is right - people are leaving because of the state of things in SGW - both in-game and in the forum, but the only people who can put it right is YOU as a community.

All the war has done has brought all of these things to the surface.

If CoP wins: eventually another CIA like alliance will be formed and it will all start again, but untill then everyone will revert to complaining about them

If CIA wins: will they just disband? i highly doubt it, they will have become the new super alliance and just replaced CoP. they'll stay together and give some lame excuse saying they're there to stop any new CoP from forming. they will oppose my views on this, of that i am certain.
and soon enough a new CoP will emerge to challange them

personally, i prefered it when it was just CoP, at least they can take criticism and they dont start piontless wars for no reason (that i know of anyway)

i agree with you and have previously said this myself, CiA will not disband after the wars end (if it ever comes)

and CoP will never disband, so where does that leave this game and forum?

It leaves the game in a new state, COP, CIA, and 90% of the rest as Stat Builders or farms.

How many are actually in the War, If your not then you should be taking advantage of it by accelerating your raiding etc or building your stats etc...

Many in the war are happy playing this way, those that aren't are free to leave, neither side is penalizing them if they do.

i am not in the war and i am increasing my army size, ultimately so i can enjoy the game allot more....

but thats not the point i am trying to make here is it?!?!

the point is the total lack of respect that is spreading like a plague all over the game and forum.

i'm not saying the whole community should become a bunch of tree hugging hippies (no disrespect to tree huggers) as we are all aware this is a war game....however...i dont ever recall such disrespect towards each other on these boards before.

the key word in the above is COMMUNITY

Ok, I agree and posted earlier. The war is not the cause of the disrespect.

Please stop blaming the war for the indecent behavior of posters.

I can show you many polite PMs in my inbox from COP members and only two negative ones which were followed with an apology.

Every poster I belive gets treated in a way he treats others.

So it is eachs personal responsibilty to be respectful of others.

We are all really in one group, no matter how you play the game, we are a tiny group of people in the world enjoying this game and forum. It is our place and we need to respect those and realize no matter how the other players play they are closer to ourselfs than the majority of the popluations outside of here.

Edited, with apologies. Thanks for being so quick to point a slight negative. In that quote I did not say or meant to emply that anyone was to blame. Everyone is free to post as long as they are willing to deal with the consequences.

And, no disrespect for any of the mods (which I had not emplied), especially Teal'auc which I feel has done a very good job at it.

sorry, long posts scare me and i have a short attention span so i tend to only read half of long posts, unless they're broken into bitesize paragraphs and no longer than 4 paragraphs long

I've quit ingame aswell because theres no actually reason of playing, Everyone is selling resources making the game worthless lol, so all the smart people who are after $$$ are selling up before there accounts are worthless...which will make the game empty...Unlike most people ive given my account away to my cuzin. So if anyone hates me please dont take it out on him as its not me lol, i might return but it will be with a different account.

If you want the game back to how it used to be, 1st stop people selling so much resources for $....

personaly i perfered CoP how they used to be and not how they are now because they used to be ok at times, i no they can be annoying at times but everyone is.

They have made the game more fun for some but made it horrible for others but if they didnt do that who would? there is always going be someone like them.

sorry mate, i wasn't trying to imply that you hadn't read my original post, i was simply agreeing with you and just stating that i have voiced many of your concerns in the past and had been shot down for them

im non cop and i have no problem speaking up!

Many people stay because they feel they have to, i for one put alot of effort into AB before the war and il be dammed if that goes to waste, But in the end, you have to ask yourself, IS it Actually worth it, i mean, what are we doing, massing defences rangeing from 1 to 6 million? Everyones sitting on Nox/crit or ppt. All we are doing is Wasteing turns, effort, naq and uu *shrugs* wars are fun at the start, when theres things to do but now its becomeing fast rubbish, well i think most people will agree it got rubbish after about 2 weeks...then it hit the month mark and boy it has been anything but enjoyable....People have been at it so long they are starting to get crabby, some are horrible in posts, PM's , msns, People are throwing wild accusations, people are tyring to claim they are more honorable than someone else due to something that may have happened years ago, it all gets a bit out of hand, i for one believe if you all wish to continue the war that we all build defences worth massing and get off nox and critical!

It is a vocal minority who are real problems in forum. But, heavens! These few are really rotten eggs. And their in game behavior is just as bad.

The bulk of my opponents have been decent folks. This surprised me becuase I entered the war thinking that they were not.

If you actually read all the posts (and I have tried), you will see repeat verbal offenders. Some appear to have a policy of posting just to have the last word while not really saying anything worth reading.

These few people (some who are 'leaders') are using the forum as a personal stage and/or an attack platform.

Want the forum abuse ended? Shut them down in here. Enforce decent rules of decorum for every one- especially those who are leaders. They should be held to a higher standard. Delete every post that even comes close to crossing the line. Give them a week of 'forum time out'.

Once you put teeth into civility, you will quickly reign those few in.

At the very least, we may all benefit from the temporary silence.

g just go to the spam temple man, its the only place i havent found war threads or crap about the war, and there is some nice hoff pictures there
