I think the total bonus should be 5%... 20% is a lot, I'm not sure if you guys quite realise this while you're talking about it.

i have to say the same... 20% is just far too much for my liking. maybe 10% or 5% even.
and to combat multies, make it u need a minimum of 10 members or sumthing and make it any members who have shared IPs dont count towards the limit.

That would kind of defeat the purpose.
I know for a fact that a lot of people from South-Africa are on the same IP (Telkom-SA has an interesting way of providing internet access), as are many Slovenians (other IP, same problem) and I'm sure there's a lot of others with the same problem.
How would you solve that? Allow IP-exceptions to be taken into account? Heh, sounds complicated.
Otherwise, sound idea.

I think the bonus' should be only to alliances made up of members of the same race (Ascended and their feeders being counted as the same race perhaps?)... it would make races mean more than they do at the moment, and may even encourage race wars again, which would be amusing.

I also like the idea
but yep, 20% would be too much, what about dividing by number of members*2 or *3 ?

I like it. It sorta brings meaning to alliances other than trying to outspam eachother on forums (AOE know who im talking about). Right now alliances are mostly social with a bit of a nasty deterrent.

I think the % bonus to each member would have to played with a bit, but conceptually, I think the idea has merit, as members of alliances would in essence "share technologies" with each other...an interesting idea.
To solve the problem of what to do for the Ascended races (as they already receive a bonus from the Ascended server), perhaps bonuses to either naq generation, UP, or planet bonuses?
Just throwing it out there....what do you think?

Well, it is a good idea in principle.
I don't know if I interpreted it the way it was meant (been a long couple of days) so I am sorry if I repeat anything.
The bonus cannot be more than about 10% (gotta think that with the larger alliances with larger stats - 10% bonus to a 300bil def is a lot more than a 10% bonus to a 30bil def).
Minimum alliance size to be able to benefit from this is 10. (As we have seen in the past you can hide multies in an alliance up to about 6-7 members before it starts to stand out).
Ascended players race counts towards the base of that race for purposes of the equation.

Zeratul wrote:how about making race buildup of alliances have an effect?
for example:
alliance size of 17 members, of which:
5 are tauri/tollan
5 asgard/ancient
4 legos
3 snakes
the alliance gets 20*membercount of specified race bonus to stats, divided by 17, so this one would get:
20*5 / 17 = 5.88% to attack
20*5 / 17 = 5.88% to defense
20*4 / 17 = 4.71% to covert
20*3 / 17 = 3.53% to income (or something else "snaky")
the total bonuses arent great, but if same alliance had had only one race, like asgard/ancient, the bonus would have been 20% to defense... which is a lot...
and the bonus wouldnt increase because of larger alliances, so all alliances would be equally able to get good bonus...
but it also needs some lower limit, to stop the one member alliance abuse... so maybe lower limit of 6 members, and activity being needed to have it work (so that noone will just create 5 multies to join alliance to get bonus...)...
feel free to chop away on this idea, and to add or change stuff... the numbers used are not fixed, as they are just used for an example...
ooooh thats a nice idea!

It must be too late here because that didn't make any sense to me. Just leave it how it is. It's hard enough to figure out some of the forumulas in the game without making it that much more complicated.

hmmmm don't like it because some players don't like to go into alliance but then they wil be pushed into alliances and that meen pushed in alliance and inactive in alliance ... And one say 40 members and all asguard they get huge def. bonus then their must be tauri alliance with same members too mach that bonus ...

so its a bad idea because an asgard alliance would have a little bigger defense?????? and tauri alliance would have a bigger strike? its the same as individual people an asgaurd gets high def tauri gets high strike.
so if there were 10 replies and 10 goaulds then everyone in the alliance would get 5% bonus income and 5% bonus covert action? sounds good.
then alliances could all change race to nanotimaster for a bigger covert, or all tollan for higher strike.

causing that would simply add more strategy...

How about you can have a max of two races in your alliance for the bonus to take effect. And if you have two races, they get half the bonus a sungle race could get.

I hope that hasn't been suggested before.
