_Blackmagic_ wrote:if your officer has either no defence or never banks and leaves too much naq out then i disagree with your 3 hit policy an officer has to make an effort themselves and defence is as ALL should know the way to not be farmed not a larger CO with attack turns to spare and the same goes for learning how much you can hold in the open for your amount of defence.
apart from that your policies sound of a defencive nature and cant be called unfair.
Actually, I disagree with you. In my opinion, the greatest defence is a big offense. See, if you have a big strike and myabe a crappy defence of 4 mil (sounds like someone I know....) people would think twice before hitting you. I'm not saying all of my officers have that, but its the case for 2 of them.
Put it this way. If Pianomutt was still playing and had a 10 mil defence and a 2 tril strike, and 50 bil naq out every turn, would you still hit him?
But only one of my officers are basically inactive, but has a nice UP bonus. The rest are active and log in regularly and have decent defences.
Also heres a tip to everyone: Raising your defence is not the way to get a farmer off of you. I know when I farm and people do that, I just raise my strike, doesn't bother me, sure it doesn't for many. To get someone to stop farming you, send a message asking them to stop. If they don't, mass them and 9 time out of 10, they will stop. The other 1 out of 10 times is a war will follow

I would have to think about the possibility of being sat on forever, and
whether or not I'd be willing to have no stats for the foreseeable future,
but yea, he could have my defense.

Here is my protection policy for my officers:
1. You mass my officer, I mass you.
2. You steal a planet from my officer and I either mass you or make you pay for it or give it back.
3. You hit my officer more than 3 times and I mass you or make you stop, any hits after that are automatic massable.
I will hear their side though. I always give soimeone 1 day to explain themselves after I send them a message after they broke one of my protection policys. Or I'll look in my officer's logs to see if they provoked it. I will give that to them. But after 24 hours, I mass.
To me, that seems fair, but I'd like to see what the community thinks.
Seems fair to me.

Sounds fair to me
Depends on the circumstances though.

yea, but it would also depend on how many hits I thought I could get before he rebuilt defense...
one 50 bil hit might not be enough to rebuild both my defense and my mothership, (we'll just pretend for the moment that he doesn't have any AC.)
and by making 50 bil naq per turn, it would only take 1 turn of building for him to repair his crummy defense, and add enough to it to best my strike by a lot.

its reasonable, there are some grey areas, if your officer was massed through raiding... then what was he doign with that many uu out, if he has no defence and keeps getting farmed because of it... why isnt he on crit nox or have a defence... its fairer that somes policy's though.

Lol Jedi, your systems fair as long as you check into stuff and make sure your officers not getting what he deserves. Which, I can see from some of your later posts, you attempt to do to the best of your ability.
So, your being very fair. You'd have to be pretty dense/stubborn/unlucky to get massed by that system there.

Yup. This rules looks fair so long as you are respecting them.
And it is good when ppl are seeing the differences between both side of this thiny line. I mean here massing with and without a reason.
Because i know very well that it is difficult to understand the second side sometimes. So often many ppl are so rude that we forget about beeing nice..
And then .....

Your 'rules' are quite the same as mine are... except I send two versions of warning. One, after 1 naq hit; more of a friendly notice to not thinking about making my officers regular farms, and second version, after 2-3 repeated hits, giving notice that any further agressive actions against my officer will be considered as hits against me and dealt as such.
If they stop with hits, I leave them alone. If they don't, well... I think you know what follows very soon
Either way, I do not protect my officers from their own stupidity, and if they get massed for something they screwed up, I let them get what they deserve. Well, tbh, they are with me mostly for ages, so they avoid doing stupid things anyways...because I talk to them very often and they think first before acting..

It depends on 2 things.
1- Your size : Their size
2- Officer size : Their size
If it's someone way below your own size, it would be unsportsmanlike to mass.
If it's someone your officer can take on for themselves, let them do it. Good experience and you get a show of your officer's capabilities.
If it's someone smaller than you but beyond your officers capabilities, give them fair warning and a chance to back off. If they choose not to, you may involuntarily vacate your shirt, grunt, turn green and most of all, SMASH.

I used to be concerned with my size against enemies, but since the EPAc war, I'm pretty much scared of nothin in this game.
Plus if they screwed up and are getting massed for that I'm still gonna try and stop it diplomatically.
