Current thoughts are 4th-8th of July but moving it to later in July/August may be in the proverbial cards.
4th was chosen due to the 3rd State of Origin but some people may have conflictions.
So perhaps people should vote yes if they can make it to Brisbane regardless of the date so that once we have an idea of who can make it then we will talk dates.
Just so people know I did a rough count of Aussies registered on the forums and came up with 180+ so clearly there are more lurking.

I'd love to go, I am more doubtful than I would like to be about being able to afford it however, seems the cost of airline tickets to your ridiculously isolated rock are pretty hefty

How about you have the Australian convention in England, we'll put flags up and everything so you feel at home aswell.

Not in July. Might be able to work it out closer to end of August or early December. Never been to Brisvegas before
Edit: Just read The Deity's post, that's a 'YES' (if I'm in the country at that time).

It'd be pretty sad if you couldn't.

Of course you can. If you are of age you can drink, it's not like we are going to stop you. While the intention is for this to be an all-ages event it won't stop those of us who are "of age" wandering off and doing our own thing.
One request though is that if you intend to drink try not to do it in front of the youngens and don't get that hammered that you forget where your shoes go, at least not while with the main group.
Also the venue for it currently has two major possibilities. At Southbank along the river for an afternoon BBQ where you can chat together and lay back. Odds are it'll incur a cover charge of a minimal nature to cover food expenses and such.
The other is Dreamworld, just a fun day out there for everyone. Alas this may be a little out of people's price range. Rest assured there are many discounts lurking for getting in and should we ultimately decide to go there a group booking will no doubt save us some dough too.
Again at this stage we are just gauging interest so I'll say again, ignore the dates for the most part and just answer in regards to wether or not you can actually make it to Brisbane. If we get a decent amount of interest things will move to the next stage and we can discuss dates.
For those of you worried about work and Uni, the main event will be held over the weekend much like the Melbourne one so you should be able to peel yourselves away.

At this stage, there is also a possibility of holding another Melbourne one, if only just to catch up with all you guys and gals again.
I'm thinking it would be nice to repeat the last get together. Laser wars, bowling (or trying to at least), then the club again.
Fun times... fun times...

I will be there

Would have been at the last one if not for my Girlfriend being in Sydney that weekend so no-brainer where I was lol.
I will try and help arrange some stuff in co-ordination with Robe/Deity/Nuto etc. I know lots of good places in Brissie and can get good prices for all sorts of things depending on what we do.
I was thinking some special guest lectures by myself for 4 or 5 hours as a great start to the day

hehe.

Ladies and gents, i would like to remind everyone that Drinking is not a joke, its a responsibility.
In my time I have seen many people abuse alcohol and have fun, and we all know where not here for a good time, were here for a long time. So I would suggest we all refrain from imbibing alcoholic beverages otherwise we risk exposure to enjoyment and maybe even contact with the opposite sex.
Just say NO!
