personally, i see no effect of having the special color. the members of respect(of which i am) SHOULD be able to be noticed by their actions. the one time i believe i had a public issue with someone, i went about trying to move it to PM. in the end, it didn't quite turn out that way, but i tried.

some "flaming" may in fact be good roleplaying, BUT, there is a line there that some can't see. the real question is: do those who are in the respect group NEED this new "publicity" in order to make their point made? i say no. but i haven't been able to get on much lately to express this opinion much before.(i have internet/network problems currently)

The fact is you have a small select group of people whose public statement of "respect" and gaining a colour implies and denotes the belief that their posts are of a higher calibre and value than the rest of the community. Do i agree with their ideal of making a conscious effort of raising and/or maintaining the general quality and attitudes of the forums? Of course, as it is something that every poster should strive towards in the first place. Do i belive that they *deserve* to be noticed and acknowledged for their actions? No. It smells of nothing but elitism. Look at me, i have respect, my posts are better than yours.

Don't get me wrong, i'm not attacking the group as i do have respect for several, if not all of their of their members. All i'm trying to do is provoke some proper discussion and provide the other side of the issue. That respect is not something that you flaunt about. Rather it is earned and silently, not publicly praised by those who feel the need to do so. Your actions and posts should speak for themselves, not having yourself seperated from the rest of the community as the cream of the crop "elite" posters.

just cause they're treehuggers doesn't mean they're hippies... or the other way around...

ugh, now the green reminds me of greenpeace >.<

i think that any form a elitism in the group is unnecessary. the pledge is mostly to yourself. you're just making it public, and having others keep you accountable to that pledge.

I might be completely wrong were you going, but the group isn't select as such. Because you just sign up yourself. ;)
It's a good idea, and having a different colour does nothing to the superiority of the post. Like their saying, it simply shows they've made a pledge not to go wrecking havoc around the forums. :)

yes, that is how it should be... it should be that the poster strives towards keeping the respect on the forum high, and NOT that the posts made by poster are superior...

in no way should this group be defined as superior... and members of this group should definetly not be free from criticism... just as the people not member of this group should be free of criticism...
