That little story I was talking about, LC5 for 4 minutes, gave me the plain text password for the administrator account on my laptop. all laptops in the school had the same account> so thats instant network access to everybody's laptop including staff/teachers
from there the encrypted password for email accounts was saved in a .fc file, which usimply change to .txt and open,
copy and paste the encrypted password, type in staff username and voila, in.
the faculty only wireless had its key hidden in the laptops as well, which was another one of their mistakes. when u type a wireless key it gets hashed and saved, but also "attached" to a wireless card. this one wasn't which is why it never showed up.
the same admin password opened up access to two servers, one primary webserver and another IT server, lol.
Let me say they were not happy when I let them know
and now my parents make fun of me for it, when I told them I heard of a hackers group on campus lol...
OH, I should say
on a monday night while I was studying for a test, they came into my boarding room, took away my laptop then took away my external harddrive. Every now and then I'd walk by their office and they'd be searching through my laptop for files, and then my external. Unlucky me they found 2 chat logs which were the two ONLY chat logs I didn't want saved, and they were and I don't know why, lol. They completely made me look like I was lieing.
I tried crying my way out of it and it didn't work either,
iunno, thats really it. said i'd post the story so I did.
it sucked not having a laptop for a week. i got it back on friday night, and they wouldnt give me back my external so my parents came up to the school and demanded it back.
best part? 1 week suspension > my advisor who was the assistant headmaster wanted me to see him after. I didn't get the Disciplinary Committee, I got straight head master suspension.
so my advisor tells me after that in the big picture "its just a slap on the hand, no big deal"
they arranged for me to write all my missed tests and get all class notes and homework while I was gone. I spoke to most of my teachers after and a bunch of them were like "you know I know what you did, and I'm cool with it" and stuff like that.
all in all, it sucked. but looking back on it, iunno if i'd do it again.
good story for the kids though
edit: when I first told them about it, i went to IT, the week after the IT director waited for me outside of class and siad "you have a spare right now don't you?" and I'm like... yeaahh so he brought me to the head master.
2 weeks went by and then they raided my room for my equipement. lol
then they waited for me after class again brought me to the headmaster, gave me my week off.
told me i could start my suspension the next day after (my house master from my boarding house said in her 16 years there, she's never heard of someone getting suspended and going home the day AFTER). my mom calls in and goes nooo.. we had a school function that weekend so they moved my suspension even further down from saturday afternoon till 1 week the next sunday night.
