most of us are in purg cause we have less time to play, the guys who could be really borings for alliance are those who run from one realm to another.

i dont understand the eagerness of some people to restrict the purg in army size. Having a real alliance inside purg can really help agaisnt runners, setting some rules and fight main outlaws.

on topic, i think perg is good as it is.
i am currently in perg; recovering form ascension....
i see no issues about it.

if someone plays hit and run on you then join him in perg and finish him there, yeh it will take longer and such but you can still hurt him back
everyone can get in there (except of course the real big players but they have friends..)

I suppose if you really wanted revenge or to prove a point, you could follow whoever it was you were targeting. And since most people have no allies willing to go to perg or who are in perg, well then the fun begins.
