Re: PPT ON/OFF switch

Overall, ppt is a *bad thing (*tm) - purely personal opinion of course. I don't mind visiting perg occasionally but I wouldn't be caught dead hiding behind the ppt...

Yet is seems a lot more popular than it is unpopular...

So... I do like the idea of an on/off button, but coupled with a drastic chance of how ppt works...

Sell a *maximum* of 24 hours a week's ppt and an on/off button. So even if you're doing the raid, mass, hide, raid, mass, hide thing, it won't be long before your ppt runs out and the payback game begins... :-)

At least make people *think* for a bit and use some strategy when it comes to ppt, without making it useless for people who need a day off from time to time...

[edit]
Oh, and if you're at war - ppt doesn't protect you when you're attacked by anyone your status is war<->war with. Be at war OR cowering behind the ppt, not both.

Change the PPT!

I thought the subject might get your attention.

But no, not remove it altogether... If PPT is going to be used to turn the game into a farm/raid/ppt-fest, then yes, please just remove it altogether. If people want to sit out a war they can do so with vacation mode, not gaining any resources.

Alternatively, charge 2 market turns to buy a new type of ppt - a 96 hour one that has a checkbox to switch it off and on. But disable the "on" switch for 12 hours after the user has attacked anyone.

If this is implemented, add one more feature at the same time. Add a second bank - a "war chest" - and allow weapon repairs and military purchases to be made from there instead of the ludicrous way they are now of needing to taken out in the open to buy upgrades/repairs.

Edit: I have changed the "remove the PPT altogether" subject line to avoid confusing people"

Pretty common suggestion, more believe it should just be limited more, as discussed by the link in suggestion 5 of this thread viewtopic.php?f=13&t=17059

Despite how much I would be able to use this, it is not going to happen. 96 hours would protect me for an average of 13.5 hours a day, meaning that during the critical times I can not log on(such as when I sleep) I would always be protected.

Also not very likely to happen. Managing your resources while at war, while massing and being massed is a key part of the game.

Most of us have lives, my friend.

If you had read the post instead of wetting yourself over the subject line, you would have seen that I suggested keeping the current 96 hour limit.

What I am proposing is a change to the ppt, to make it impossible to war AND use ppt. If you really want out of a war you have 3 options. 1. Resign from your alliance, and hope that the opposition honors your withdrawal. 2. Withdraw to pergatory. 3. Go on vacation.

Those are the three ways out of a war. Not using ppt to hit & run.

I have nothing against ppt. I am on it now, and will be for 6 days (my gf's got leave from work). But then I'm not using it to hide from somebody I just whacked (in OR out of war), I'm using it as I'm sure it was intended to be used.

To those complaining that it's too long, 4 days a week is too much, why? You think people have an advantage over you because you play 25/7 (typo deliberate) and they only play 3 days a week? Don't be silly. You will grow more than twice as fast, because you are more than twice as active. LET people who are happy staying small and enjoying the game on a weekend, or those who enjoy the weekend off, continue.

What you *should* be upset about, are those who come off the ppt, clobber everybody they can, and jump back on it. Or the ones who misuse it in wars. THOSE are the ones I would like to see put a stop to. Yes, it's a war game, and war is a dirty business. But in most wars there is HONOUR. There are plenty of players on here with honour, even in the biggest baddest most "mean" alliances. Why they put up with the garbage they have hiding under their skirts is beyond me.
