I'm going to try to tie your first three paragraphs together. I'm aware that you are talking about personal screen resolutions (or at least that's what I think). My focus is on the gains-losses with using 'img' code tags to just attaching the file.

I looked at Agapooka's picture resolution with the first image he posted and it was 96 x 96 dpi. I thnk that is where the streaching on page one was from. Please compare it to the image posted below.

Here is my attachment of 1500 pxls x 350 pxls @ 96 x 96 dpi

1500.JPG

You should notice it does not stretch the forum. My program looking at images could be flawed, giving me the wrong info. on resolutions and pxls. That is a possibility, so please check my image.

In light of what I posted above, and looking at the 4th paragraph. I don't see why images can't be added as an attachment... to 1500 by 900, or whatever... perhaps I still know too little of the discussion material, in addition to what I have said and presented?

Your 5th and 6th paragraphs aren't something I can comment on. I don't take bait.

Yes, the poll shows the number of forum accounts that voted. I'm just putting this out there for though... and to get you to think critically: Can we conclude they are different users who voted?

Tok'ra: Agapooka posted a picture in his post that made the forum go wonky. Then, his attachment failed to prove his point, as it takes the size of the - already stretched - screen to limit itself.

As for that many users wanting this or that... seriously, how accurate is that. :P First of all, not everyone votes. Second of all, who is to say that those votes aren't people that never visit, but were called on MSN to register and vote just once? :)

I don't know if the limit can be rescinded for some threads? For example a gallery thread, or whatever. Maybe something with mod backing. :)

tok'ra... change of the limit is being discussed elsewhere as well... its just that what to change it to, hasnt been decided yet...
no need to go agressive about it...

Yeah, I'm aware that the attachment lost some value in terms of the point I was making due to the image above (which was not an atachment) distorting the forum.

However, I thought that people would be perceptive enough to note the horizontal scrollbar that occured regardless and perhaps note that this means that an image posted in an attachment can, in no way, distort the forum on a horizontal level. I apologise for assuming that perception was a quality of the main commenter of this thread.

That said, I can post said attachment again, here.

I don't know, Agapooka.. now the attachment doesn't have anything remote to inhibitions as to it's width.. no scrollbar, just plain pic.

No scrollbar? :?

Well, the scrollbar is just in a <DIV>, so it scrolls within a certain area on the screen, as not to dirupt the rest of the page.

;) I know where to find scrollbars and stuff, and believe me, I've looked for it.
But either something is terribly wrong with my browser, or your attachment 3 posts up doesn't have one.

Anyway.. I'm afraid I'm not really contributing anything here.

Well, that was a screenshot of said attachment. :?

Well, I think it's time Tok`ra post a useful picture, such as the comparison between FF with extensions, FF without, Opera and IE 8)

I asked admin and he said : no forum distorting even for 800x600 users...
So 600max width will stay.
You want to show a bigger picture?

-Put it in attachment
-Link it

Tok'ra,

Bazsy passed on what Forum said. Your jab is misplaced.

why not just use a thumbnail of a picture that links to the full size picture? is that really so awful if you dont want to use attackments?

im sorry...i just dont see this as a issue.
how long has the new forum been up?
and it hasent been a issue till now?
i think ppl are just complying to complain
the limit is in so that it dosent distort the forum margins...
now maybe instead of complaing...maybe ask admin for a compramise...if you find a template that his wider margins...then ask him to concider it...otherwise admin has spoken
