Also, the south refused the change, so we just beat the holy crap outa them until they fell into line, sound familiar germany?
But history shows mistakes, and one mistake, is unarming law abiding citizens.

Well said. But the goal should be to unarm the criminals. Reduce the amount of illegal guns.

Or are you telling me, that in every single case that person could have obtained the weapon legally?

I'm sorry but Walter had much better posts IMO and he was actually discussing the situation and with valid arguments for his case. I simply forgot to read the last posts you made. Where they specifically answering me, or just with links to cases where guns saved someone? Cause I said earlier in this thread we can all find links with story's to back us up. I prefer us discussing solutions and maybe the origins of the problems. You just keep making this about me, you use every other post to attack me instead of attacking the problem. Which is the number of people being killed.

Want me to post all links I can find where guns killed people instead of saving them? We all know both situations come up.

Dec 12, 2012 – A 4-year-old boy in Houston accidently shot himself in the head and a 5-year-old girl in Philadelphia shot herself in the foot after both children got a hold of their parents' guns Tuesday night

Aug 1, 2008 – This week, a toddler fatally shot himself after finding a gun in his parent's car.

Toddler Accidentally Shot, Killed Himself With Deputy's Gun

Between 2006 and 2010, 561 children under 12 were killed by firearms, according to the FBI's most recent Uniform Crime Reports. The numbers each year are consistent: 120 in 2006; 115 in 2007; 116 in 2008, 114 in 2009 and 96 in 2010. The FBI's count does not include gun-related child deaths that authorities have ruled accidental.

Wonder how many innocent children could still be alive today... but like you said you need guns for your protection. So 500 kids being killed by guns is not worthy of us discussing a solution. I'm sure you can find arguments how a gun could have saved them in that scenario... You better continue attacking my intelligent. It will get you so far and avoid talking about the problem.

Shall we get real here? You guys keep being on the fence because I dare say guns are a problem. It doesn't matter how it's solved (with less guns or more guns) it's just a fact something needs to be done in the US. Sue me for wanting to discuss the problem and not wanting to see so many innocent children being killed for no other reason but irresponsible gun-loving Americans. But US needs a change, for the better.

the stories you speak of are about irresponsibility. The guns in our house, aside from muzzleloaders, are locked in the gun safes, as is all of the ammunition and powder. they can still be accessed within seconds of hearing a disturbance. anyone who keeps a gun anywhere else should have it in a retention holster. you cant pull the trigger, rack the slide, or load a magazine while the gun is in the holster, and it's just as child proof as a pill bottle.

Well said Curt.

KJ - True enough, we both can always come up with instances where the other seems "right".

Please use common sense and don't just expect replies to links of guns saving someone. I can link a story where bleach saved someone, but I still keep it out of a child's reach :smt064

Precisely !

And Curt, that's how it should be! At least. It's extremely sad how many people ignore it.

It's irresponsible - reckless & selfish. If you gonna keep a dangerous weapons in your home, you have to respect it for what it is. You might own it for security reasons, but it's designed to kill. And should be treated as such.

Talk about being selective :smt043

There's no such thing as better posts when all the links i've posted have been relevant. it's either relevant or not.

Bleach is not relevant to anything when we're talking about a criminal in the white house intent on taking guns and he's only just started warming the seat in his 2nd term and he's already after everyone's guns...you people are blind...have fun :-)

You keep avoiding all the innocent people and not to mention innocent children. Don't you care?

Why on earth can't we talk about more responsible gun-ownership? It's like I'm asking you to give away your freedom. At the moment we aren't even discussing a ban on guns, we're talking about being responsible. Even that seams to be too much to ask.

KJ it is not your, mine or curt's responsibility to make sure he reads contexts. He said my bleach analogy was "off topic". :smt043
I believe it was a perfect example of people need to keep dangerous things out of the wrong hands :smt017

AND YES I SEE THE SIMILARITIES, all but the dictatorship.......yet anyway.
Although to be fair, how many president's have NOT met with children :smt017

Re: Proposed ban on assault weapons by Obama

Sorry for double post but since that picture is being taken even a little seriously......

Do you think Obama was whispering to them about Big Government during that photo op, or do you think he was answering childish questions, like, "When the funk you gonna bring all our troops home?"

Come on,
George Neo-Con Bush was at a school reading a children's book to kids when 9/11 was whispered in his ear. He proceeded to finish the book! No doubt he needed the practice and only help with a couple of words, but he finished Cat in the Hat I will have you know!!

That picture is silly propaganda and nothing more. Go back to drudge and try again ](*,)

Lol, doesn't answer about the photo, nor about Georgie Boy's EPIC FAIL at anything 9/11 at all.

But yes most dictators do, or they just plain are power hungry as its in our DNA. Why I found it Ironic that the humans were more suitable hosts than Jaffa on stargate. We were the same in alot of ways, but our lil bit of repressed power-driven evil inside of us attracted them to us instead.

It's funny though that the rest of us, even when we disagree about the good and the bad about guns, can agree that they're also highly dangerous and in many cases, the problem itself. And only the problem - and the source of that problem is irresponsibility. I even said "Solve the problem with more or less guns, just solve it" and he ignored that like he ignores everything else and continues to take cheap shots and assumes I said bad all guns completely.

Funny he complains about being ignored but when we reply he ignores.

Oh well.

All I can say is, don't let the fear of change cloud your judgment. Look at it from all perspectives first. It's natural for humans to be afraid of changes. 500 dead innocent children is plenty cause for a change.
I will be very surprised if that change would be having more guns. But if it works I will be pleased. Just as long as we see decreased murder rate.
