as well - there is a limit at a few hundred trillion where the database and the web page stop talking the same language and it's a bit of a hassle to convert, so i figured i'd balance instead of continually converting between the 2 ways of they each express big numbers ...
and to whoever said nothing was balanced, that you could do better, that i do not know what i am doing, blah blah blah... what's your game url?
Msn me theres better ways than what is done.

i'll assume you know the issue, which is no longer an issue, but out of curiousity - here is as good as anywhere. what's the better way?

I fully think you know what you are doing. As much as my 8tril was nice to look at, it's silly compared to the 50bil of my other stats.
BTW just so the other dude knows.....IT IS NOT WISE to piss off the admin of the game.......Seems like common sense to me, but eh?

if u msn me (im trying to protect your code and the security of this game.) i would be more help full seeing that you could send me bits of code and i offer different ways on doing it. but you havent yet so im left to grasp for straws. first off i would check the max allowed numbers or how ever its stored. if the calculations come out to be a big number than you can divide it in half and store the two numbers seperately. i would say more but i dont think its worth it.

Get your facts straight. SQL databases (ones I use atleast) can only hold strings 14 digits long, no matter what! Game programming cant do ANYTHING to stop that. Also this was done as a balancing issue. Point fingers all you want but I know Forum knows whats best for his game.

Found it try serialization. and medium text.

so it seems that its you who should get his facts straight.

I know some, like store the values then multiply the number than input into the database. If you dont like it leave. I yave no problems with constructive critism but flames, get out.

actually heres a better way dont serialize just change the field type to medium text i just put this in my db

Oh, .... post data but i use MySQL 4.1 and when you exceed the limit, your numbers become negative and irrational. im slow typing on this pda but after i post this ima type it up.

SGBlackOps1, thank you for creating a horizontal scrollbar. It's annoying as hell.
Who are you to say that your method is better? Who cares if there is a way to store larger numbers? That was only a minor part of the issue. The large part of the issue revolved around the fact that alliance power wasn't balanced enough with those large numbers.
