not a full reset you idiot. a reset to when the server first went down.

The thing is, most updates are imposible to test using a test server. I don't know how to explain why, its sorta complicated. You're just going to have to take forums word for it.

So it is impossible to fully test a update on a test server?

A restore from backup is more likely.
Yep remember that and I remember the last restore from backup. Just that as the server is officially down, admin will know when the server is coming back up and baring in mind the global makeup of the users, it would make sense to let everyone have time to be ready.
it's no one's fault that this has happened, but why should people be disadvantaged when the server has been down for 9 hours and is officially down until further notice.

why the heck could i not have woken up an hour earlier
i woke up and had loads of UU out... there's a couple things i woulda tried knowing that it would all reset soon enough and not have any consequences : /

Except that it does have consequences...see Forum's post in the general info area...he's got to undo the damage done step-by-step...which means all those that abused the bug deserve to have some sort of penalty imposed...I just can't figure out how you'd tell someone who abused it from someone who just happened to have it affect them and did nothing with it (save perhaps buy PPT to ride it out safely).

i don't see how people who did stuff can be too blame... i'm not saying it's Psi's fault but i mean... if a mod gives you permission to do something then i take it for meaning you won't be punished for doing it...

Oh man I didn't know playing around with it made it harder for forum to fix everything or I wouldn't have made the awesomest market run in the history of market runs(At least for me). I just figured he'd pause time or something to stop it from compounding, fix it then go to the last backup.

Ya I hope not it was obvious things were going to be reset and I know i had no idea playing with my income would cause more problems. Sorry for crashing the system

I assumed it would be common sense for people to know to leave something alone when it is messed up. But I guess that is why there are the help desk stories about what users do
So while I agree that doing things when the server is known to be messed up is abusing the system it also would not make sense to punish the handful of users who made the matter worse.
Feel fortunate that we have someone like Forum running the show though. I know other game administrators that would punish people, and then ban them from the forums in order to keep them quiet.

Well it seems that the crisis is over.
I find myself on PPT now without buying it
and it seems I have some extra UU to compensate for the time lost by this bug.
Looks like it has all been fixed.
Job well done Admin
