I know all the best places in Manchester :) I think it would probably be a crime for me not to make an appearance. Lol. Bloody forum life, i've only been back 20 mins and i'm already typing in BBcode. Tsk.

Nice to see you making an appearance GoO. :smt023

I just need Wolf and Mark to turn up now!

EDIT: Wolf359 has confirmed it's a no-can-do for him. Sadness.

Wolf is a no? Dagnammit. That is a massive shame. Tell him i'm a definite confirmed? After all this time it would be simply awesome to shake his hand over a pint!

EDIT: To save me the time (i have very little of it spare between my two children lol) of reading through this entire thread could you please tell me if either of the two dates are confirmed as the date yet? It is just that i need to make my partner aware of the date as early as possible in order for us to prepare. I have a Mother's Day commitment in Yorkshire on the 4th so the 2nd would be better for me if it is not yet decided.

2nd is confirmed.

Martyn has indeed seen this thread but he has other, personal commitments he cannot shrugg on that particular weekend and he's already financially committed to them as well. He seemed quite sad about it as well!

So the meeting is March the 2nd, and that's it? Hmm...just to know for what kind of time delay between coming and return I should pick. Not that I will stay just for a day considering prices of travel+hotel.
Best should be for me to come for two days (Friday/Saturday) or three days (Friday to Sunday)? -coming midday Friday and going the afternoon or evening for the last day- What do you suggest?
Also, is the airport far from Manchester center? Does the tramway go there and when do tramways stop service (midnight? 1am? earlier? later?)?

Noob questions probably but I rather be informed than not.

Erm.. There are some good museums in manchester (natural history is superb, science is overrated but still good), plenty of nice shops and a few other things to do. So I suppose staying friday through to Sunday wouldn't be terrible. The trains will run from about 6/7am until around midnight I think (give or take half an hour). It's about half an hour/20mins from the city centre to the airport and vice-versa on the train. If I do end up spending the night in Manchester I don't mind spending saturday having a walk about with you pops, it just depends on my saturday work commitments.

March 2nd is the best day as I have the day off from work normally so I can make it back to work on saturday if I am needed and it seems to cause the least problems. It worked best for Jim and DR too and Phil and Louis didn't raise any concerns about it, nor did anyone else. Only FM really has been blocked by it being on that day thus far.

For trains times go here.

Thanks for the infos!
I'm asking about centre to airport because I found a set of flight+hotel package with hotel located near the airport at a "decent price" (Britannia Hotel Manchester Airport). I have also other results, I will try to find somewhere reachable both from Airport and from Manchester centre.

I'd look into Premier Inn, they're usually a good hotel. Or IBIS, another cheap yet good hotel.

Is Salford close to Manchester centre? It says according to the map to be rather close to "Manchester" by less than a mile, but is it really close (found an hotel there)?

Only just noticed this. I should be up for it. Though I'm meant to be out in Liverpool on the 2nd. I'll see if I can change things around.

Put me down for a maybe mate and I'll let you know in a few days.

Mark

You know... I don't have you number in me phone anymore and I don't have you on facebook either! I may have removed you during an 'inactive' kulling... however I have been trying to find a way of getting hold of you! Good to hear you might be attending anyway! I'll add you to the maybe list.
