Sad that Portugal lost...wanted to see both Portugal and Spain go far!

ya i did see the game, and if germany didnt play well then they wouldnt have beaten port..

and the first goal was imo one of the best ive seen yet in this tourny..

and btw holland just lost to russia.

i admit russia should have lost, holland tried so hard, but i could see after the first half holland jst lost the will to win..
in overtime, Holland offence wasnt even trying..

Russians were all over them. Holland barely had the possession and when they had it, they had no solutions, because the russians were pressing them hard in the middle. Guus Hiddink is a master tactician and he knew that Hollands weakness is the defense. If they can`t have the possession to pass freely and you are pressing them all the time, they don`t have many combinations to make but to pass with the goalie and that gave the russians the chance to advance even more in the pressing.

Should've fielded the group that played Romania. Romania > Russia.
Alternatively, kicking Arshavin off the field earlier would've been a good call. No need to hold back on such players..

And for crying out loud.. appeal that card withdrawal by the ref.

I expect in that game the same show as in Russia vs Netherlands. Both teams are for attack... can`t wait to see what will happen.

The only pragmatical team remained in the competition is Germany. I think that we`ll see two oposite semifinals, one closed match with both teams trying to get in the lead and then defend it (Germany vs Turkey) and one superb semifinal with both teams creating a lot of goal oportunities (Spain vs Russia).

Anyway, i`m happy that Italy and Croatia are out. The most ugly teams that qualified for the quarters.

Surprised that almost noone reacted about this match though...

firstly, italy is a far better team then spain and should have won, and would have too.. its just that PK is a really bad way to show which team is better...

anyways im thinking spian wins and then spain vs germany finals

What I would like (hope it's like that, but hardly possible ), is that Spain played this game as a strategy, as they knew Italy wasn't much of a problem, so they didn't play like Russia did on NL, they didn't spend too much energy as Italy wasn't reactive, so it wasn't needed. To be ready to play at full power against Russia (yes it's funny somehow, playing on limitated level against Wolrd Champion and playing fully against Russia, who didn't win cups since several decades.) Funny but things change heh.
