the 'rescue plan' (they stopped calling it a bail out it seems ) doesnt seem to be having a dramatic effect on the world markets yet. id imagine its like a plaster cast rather than an antidote. probably needs time and other things to help the economy.

hyperinflation? i very much doubt that. personally i dont think a currency can loose excessive value in developed countries. after all, money is worthless. it only represents gold right? and gold is pretty constantly high. im not an economist or anything though. jus reading the wiki bit and it seems the currency was brought in as there was no gold to back the old currency? usa has loads of gold right so they wouldnt need a new currency.

Therefore the Rentenbank, which issued the Rentenmark, mortgaged land and industrial goods worth 3.2 billion Rentenmark to back the new currency.

i think gold backed currency ended in the US in the mid 70's, i'm pretty sure thats the case, tho don't quote me on that one.

erm, nope...the US has zero gold reserves. there are a few congressman who have repeatedly requested an audit of the peoples gold currently held in fort Knox and all requests have been turned down by the federal reserve.
this has been going on a few years and still the fed wont budge, which has lead many to believe that the gold reserves are all gone which the fed refuses to answer the question one way or the other.


seems simple enough to answer:

the people: "wheres our gold?"
the fed "don't worry people, the gold is safe"
the people "YAY"

everybody's happy!


the same thing happened a few years ago if you remember, gordon brown sold off the UK's gold reserves for a fraction of what they were worth....

regardless of what the bill says and what it doesn't say, no ones going to be held to account, just as no ones been held to account for this mess prior to the bill passing.

if someone is held to account the way it will be done is like this, they will find some poor lowly soul that no bodys ever heard of before, slap him in a suit and say he did it all!
in the meantime the fat cats will be sitting on a beach earning huge amounts of interest on the money they have stolen from the people.

jus a thought:
i think a major problem of regulating the banks is having people able to do it. any skilled person would work for the bank as they would be paid more. the monitoring organizations are left with the poorer quality workers. unless the regulators get pay closer to the bank staff regulation will continue to fail. ?


looking on wiki about reserves it seems theres not really that much gold.

wow the uk has a **Filtered** amount of gold reserves lol but its probably gone up after the olympics im jus trying to find what the rest of uk reserves are made of. bet its something silly like collectable cups or starwars memorabilia.

it seems the us wouldnt be able to re-link the currency value to gold anymore. canada would attack them apparently if they did.

i think the fat cats should be left well alone for now.once the crisis is under some control (which i believe is enevitable even if control means stability in this case). once things are more normal the heads should roll aplenty.

1) i doubt any heads will roll mate, it would have happened already, people have short memorys.

2) if they did try and link gold to paper money it would be a complete and utter disaster for 1 simple reason, the private banks now hold most of the worlds gold stocks.

3) how can we have stability when the national debt of most countrys FAAAAR exceeds the money in circulation?

Also, if you wish to truly understand the banking systems, I would start with the story of the goldsmiths.

Banks are nothing but greedy corporations out to bleed the world dry. The Bank of England is a privately owned by the Rothschild dynasty, they control the money system, look to them to find justice.

We should return to the days of Gold & sliver coins, minted in the local areas, we should see the return of individual trading and bartering for goods & services.

lol yuep every time i turn on the news. not the best market situation. it seems the media is adding to the problem somewhat by eroding confidence.

there isnt enough gold in the world for this. the total amount of gold EVER mined is tiny compared with the world economy. i believe an action like that would be a massive backwards step. if i go to the shop to buy a beer i want to pay with money, not trade one of my goats (if i had goats)

I know...that's why I, and many many others, will probably end nowhere no matter what they try, for not being part of the top at the start, but at the middle or bottom instead.
That's why I don't have much illusions anymore. Life ain't worth when you can't afford it at its best potential (or close at least).
However, I'm sure that the few poeple here being part of the upper class, will have a good career, living, capital, etc..
