this is freaking ridiculous. people in this game are too mass happy.

blind massing is not fun. if you're going to hit someone, at least have some kind of valid reason. PLEASE.

-.-Psi Kiya Trist-.-

Posting topics like this is quite likely only going to make those "blind massing" as you call it occur more often.

All you have done here is seek attention and now everyone who visits the forums can see you complaining like this, which many people will see as you just screaming for a massing.

Well.. there's also the 'I don't give a '-style of play. The one where you're mostly interested in the community, and don't really care about the game itself.
I think most old school players (from what I can tell) have either adopted such style, or have gone completely berserk and mass everything in sight. Sad thing is that others expect people to start crying over lost stats as a goal for them to wage war. :P

Luckily we keep the discussion on focus and complain about the state of the game, instead of individual losses. ;)

what does everybody expect?

any wannabe bad boy can buy an uber account, or as people have been saying for over a year, buy unlimited attacks and go mass happy just like that!

you might find it hard to believe Psi, but i agree with you and especially with wolf.
all i was doing in my previous post was just making an obvious statement of fact.

there is a random factor here which many players (including me) fail to include in the equation. i have a VERY high moral standard, the trouble comes when you try and judge people or the world by those VERY high moral standards, not everybody shares the same morality as the next man.

i, like you, also like to help others in the game and it gives me great pleasure to do so, so if you need anything just send me an ingame PM and i'll get some resources over to you :-)

@wolf:

surprised peeps still remember the short lived alliance which was called "The Liberium Coalition" or "Tender Love and Care" as some had nicknamed it    .

I don't think massing 3-10 mil army sized guys (Horus Guards) is something to be proud of. Also, when you farm members of our alliances that have low / no deff because of our war, that actually IS vulturing.

Most of old school players I know agree that game in itself is boring, and it's the community that matters more. Them being stat builders or warmongers. I fully agree with her statement.
Seriously...this game in *itself* has nothing great..

I never said I disagreed with that. War is indeed the primary state of this game. However, it's not as if it is the goal of people to get other people to cry over lost stats. :)

All I'm saying is that it is rather pathetic to try and force people to play the way your style prescribes. There are plenty of people, like me, who are only in this game for the community and their friends. They don't give a about this game, hence my "don't give a "-style.
Mass me, descend me, strip me, I don't care. But go after my friends to make them quit, that is just low, pathetic and completely idiotic.

Accounts can be rebuilt, planets retaken or new ones built up, ascended accounts can regrow easily.. but make someone quit and they are out of the game for the rest of time. If that is the goal of your campaigns, you endanger the continued existence of this game, and the very reason most people play the game at all.
After all, what is this game really? It's more like a huge tree around which we all gather to have fun and talk and stuff.. the game itself isn't that good. 8)

Ah well, Major.. we disagree, and I can accept your point of view very well. I don't agree with playing the game in order to make others quit, and I have no respect for people who play the game like that, but I am glad to know that that particular style isn't prevalent all around. We've had this conversation before, as I recall. :)
I just don't see how playing the game in order to destroy it by making everyone except yourself quit can be any fun. We wage war only to make new friends.. I guess the term "death of the game" comes from the conflict between those who actually want people out of the game and those who like the community. ;)

All that said.. I have no problem with persons, but with their ingame behaviour. As a player, I have no respect for anyone who wants me or my friends to quit. That doesn't make them a bad person.. I just don't see why I should communicate with them. :)
If I am wrong anywhere, I would appreciate being corrected. Please?

Even though i see several people state that this game is a war game i sort of have to correct em. This game is indeed based on wars however as u play with a real community things change over the years. Back in the old days there wasnt an awfull lot of wars in StarGateWARS. Indeed back then it took planning and skill to take out your opponent however diplomatic relations were also a daily routine. Since the start a lot has changed and it became way easier to make "war". This still didnt mean that eveyrhting in this game revolves around wars. The intention of the game is to have fun and play with friends in a team effort.

For some the fun is gone and the game has just become a game to kill time with but with a nice community around it (most of the times). Heck even i notice that the major fun there was back in the old dayds has dissapeared mostly. But i am still here cause i got to meet great people aswell on my friends as on my enemy list ingame and with them i have experienced a lot over the past few years. I can understand Psi's reasoning to quit the game and i agree that if u drive someone away from the game ur killing the game. However personally i woudnt let people drive me from the game as i simply are more into the community then the game itself. For me the game is just a sideshow.

Psi i hope u reconsider ur quitting and even though my alliance member is in combat with u you will sitll be a friend for me ;)

as a matter of fact I agree with you. In that yes its a community and outside of any personal relationships if we are not capable of playing the game to its fullest extent while appreciating the community and being respectful and friendly with each other then its just a forum not a game .......

so in effect you would kill the game by not playing it out of the inability to separate the two.

@ Psi has a choice.... :? cmon now

I might add ...

That at no point was your retaliation and response on the forums unexpected ;) and for that matter prepared and accounted for , although you did surprise us with the number of threads created

wow... when did declaring a war and asking for a surrender become trying to make people quit? :? I seriously think you need the wires in your head reconnected cos you seem to be incapable of actually saying anything that has even a remote connection to reality

Much better than how I said it. I agree completely.
Apologies to whom I offended with my words in my rather angry state of mind.

hence the get together's/ conventions that have evolved because of the community spirit that exist threw out this game, forum, community...whatever term fits best for each of us.

P.S.

the offer to help Psi rebuild still stands, so PM me ingame if you need help in rebuilding.
