this is why i have so much respect for FS, not just for their prowess on the field of battle but they don't get get dragged into ingame and forum politics and play the game the way its meant to be played.

IMHO, the formation of TLE to stand against OE and its allies has caused more harm to the game than good.
that's just my opinion and is NOT meant as a criticism or a poke at TLE...

lets face it , i'm not playing this game for the game anymore , i'm playing it cos of the ppl i got to know over the months/years , they scratch my back i scratch theres , iow you just help the ppl that help you = pact = Empire.

I think that the problem isn’t an empire as much as the ideas and principles that may influence the actions of empires.

Look the issue is kind of silly because instead of an empire they could just have alliances with 100 members or 200 for that matter and although they aren’t empires per say, but they may still cause the same issues for the game.

The issue is one of character and class. If those with power in this game up hold certain game mechanics and denounce ones that are unacceptable then we would have a great game. The problem is that once anyone gets power they abuse it and even those without power are willing to not just be silent in the face of bad gamming but even will go so far as to emulate the bad behavior.

I am a strong believer in doing what is right not just for yourself but for your fellow gamer.

I have played this game at least 2yrs now and actually left the game for a while not just because I had RL requirements but also because this game had become sickening to me. I understand it’s just a game and the game isn’t what upset me. Anyone that knows me at all would know I give away my resources without hesitation and so stat building isn’t the reason I would ever get upset. What upset me was the behavior of people the attitudes, the pure hatred and the type of childish behavior you would expect in middle school. I know many of the people that play this game are still in high school but a ton aren’t and we need to start being responsible and hold our alliances and alliance members to higher standards of conduct an behavior.

I want to be very clear I have seen the type of behavior that I am talking about now not just in the alliances I fought against but even in the alliances I was a part of, heck before I left I am sure I fell in some respects and probably said things I should not have.

In all I think the issue isn’t Empires but rather it is the people of this game that must take a stand not as alliances but even past those lines and say look I don’t care about winning or losing a game if it cost me my standards.

For those role-playing, I understand there are some out there who like to play the bad guy and some do it with great appeal and make most of us truly laugh however playing the bad guy in a game has limitations and some understand this while others don’t.

All I am saying is that in SGW we should speak against unfair gamming whether it be cheating extortion or simple bullying.

Let me say that when I say bullying that is not code for anyone who doesn’t make peace with everyone lol. Bullying is an attitude and not a role play it is a type of behavior that seeks to injure people in this game beyond their account and hurt them personally.

Example: You can mass anyone you like for any reason and not be a bully but when you then turn around and agitate the person just for your gratification that is bullying. Massing people is part of the game mass them then say thanks for the fun or request a friendly war.

I hope everyone understands the purpose of this post is not to insult accuse or injure anyone as all of us have failed but rather to point out a real issue that I see, and I hope others agree as well.

Empire's aren't bad for the game, the sheer fact that war's cannot be ended and no true winner can be determined by any other measure then boredom itself.

War is boring because you can't win, and the game is not fun when you can't win or loose. That's the facts. It's to easy to mass people, to easy to raid, to easy to farm. You don't loose squat these days that you can't get back in a few minutes or days.

When the game gets changes that requires you to think before you act, then the game will be saved. However until then, the pointless wars will continue.

All I can say about change in warfare is that planets where added, now planets itself are not too bad.. But i think attack planets are way to overpowered..

Bottom line is - it doesn't matter one bit - Empires can be traced right back to the very first couple of weeks of the game, it just so happens that it wasn't until some time later that Empires/multi alliances themselves were given names (GA, TLC, The Faction etc).

AN impossible thing to get rid of, so don't see the point in asking about it.

I wanted to see how other people think about this, clearly you can make that up from all the posts made.

And also, lol, even GA wasn't as over sized as even OE or DDE alone is today.

The bottom line is, Doesn't it ruin the game having only 2 sides ?

Also this is very true:

"Friendship" is a silly argument, you could easly strip empires down to one or two alliances of friends, rest is balast. As has been evidently shown in this war, size of the respective combating empires has cca halved and activity is woefull lol.

You can't tell me everyone is happy mates with each other in FUall or TTF.

As long as people believe in right and wrong there will always be two sides, there is no escaping that fact, one side believes they are right, and the other wrong and vice versa.

No matter what anyone says or does there will always be a grouping of alliances and friends, its how the world works, why should the politics of this game be any different?

Yes, i disagree with super empires. I.e. omega empire is fine so is the DDE empire but joining them both together is not needed and ruins the game.

I believe that if enough people wanted to get rid of them then it is possible but the only way for that to happen is if the hardcore members withing said super empires come to the same conclusion themselves.

Simply put this game would be much more fun for everyone without super empires.

meh, as wolf said, empires have been here from the start and i remember the game being far more entertaining before the introduction of raiding and unlimited attacks.

people grouping together is part of human nature, so maybe its the age old argument that its the updates to blame and not the empires.

Well I think ppl need to diferentiate empires as such from permanent 400 player conglomerates. Theres only been a couple of those.

And everyone is "boo hoo so cry" and "now if the game was tougher"... funny thing is that these are the same people were part or even brans behind such conglomerates. Meaning they deliberatly contributed to setting up a political deterant to make the game EASIER for themsevles (with hell for the rest being an "ammusing side effect"). That was plenty fun while it lasted, eh lol...

So atleast dont be sanctimounious about things heh. I say the game is too hard as it is. Make it "braindead monkey easy" so these "hard" men dont need 399 m8s to give them some (false) sense of rule/security/achievement/e-penis/whatever.
