Mordack wrote:Like I said, almost everything about the setting and even the dynamic of this game lends toward it being a war game. Almost everything you can do and everything you can purchase is war based (weapons, soldiers, motherships etc). Even stats, which many of us so proudly build, are meant to used in warfare and in response to other accounts. Your attack, your covert and your defense are all part of the machine. And as for trading and diplomacy.. wasn't it Machiavelli who once wrote that peace is merely the preparation for war?

maybe the people who just like to build stats should be allowed to ppt for ever

never said that.. just that atm is too easy to destroy, it should be a little costier i dont know..
or everybody will play the guerrila tactics when you have nothing to be hit and will be a farm fest for the most active players

As pointed out the game is indeed based on the warfronts but as its also an MMPORG it makes the game playable in any way u wish. Let it be warmongering, lit it be peacefull, let it be statbuilder os whatever roles we came up with these years. Its still based on the role u play. ATM most of the server play the warmongering style. Slowly there are comming more peacefull players/alliances/empires/coaliations and that might lead to a other sort of general role play. Only time will tell and probly how well Origin is going.

It's not a war game, thats just the role most of you hair pin trigger yankee doodles or wannabe of that characteristic players choose too play, doesn't make it and never will make it a "WAR" game. It can be a build nice stats and feed the penguins game or a Epic Trader Man just like a FRENGIE!..

ME (I would say JESUS or GOD but I don't like to talk in third person)

Thats some wisdom for you.

hmmm... a little bit of wisdom.. but not entirely...

your going to find that many of the truths we cling too depend greatly on our own point of view.

I ask you ag... what is the name of this mmorpg?

Ultimately its another example of the fundamental error in human comprehension... other examples will be the idea that Adolf Hitler was NOT a great leader... that people who post of the forums actually and wholly are the same person in real life... that idea that saying something is better than another thing apparently means the other thing is not good at all, when of course no it dosent..it just means you think that first thing is in fact better, but the second can still be great... or perhaps that by posting publically a point of wisdom and logic we think that people will listen to people who obviously know a great deal more than them...

yeah... generally does not happen...or they find some other BS reason to do what they want anyway.

You kids give me so much joy.. *sarcastic cheerful grin followed by a stone faced glare around the room*

I am now however going to go find a very big pillow and lie down, because I had far too much to drink last night and spent most of the day reminiscing about the last time I did it and on the verge of death herself....

*skywards glance as if in deep thought for a moment*
laters newbies...oh and Mordack.. I love Machiavelli...great man...
*smiles again with eyeborw raised and then walks off*

Empedocles wrote:Agreed 12ag... People choose to play the game as a war game, and try to force that mentality on everyone else who plays and use that excuse to get away with anything they want, assuming since its a "war" game, anythings fine... It is just a game after all though so in the end it doesn't matter. Just because someone doesn't particularly want to just go and mass random alliances to get high ME doesn't make their play style wrong... it means they wanna build stats and get a good account so that when they do have to go to war they can last more than 2 massing/rebuilds and not have to quit out right away. That's my opinion... Sorry if you disagree.

the two above highlighted statements seem to contradict in my mind....
if it doesnt matter in the end then why complain about it? heck, i even made a topic about it way back when, it didnt get me anywhere. suck it up, move on, or even better yet, learn to play like them so you have some fun too :D
I have nothing to suck up since I am not complaining, it doesn't really matter to me if I get massed, I just rebuild and move on. I don't like the part about "Learn to play like them so you have some fun too". As I said before, maybe just massings tons of people all the time isn't everybody's idea of fun, and people who don't wanna do that aren't "Stat Builders" or aren't some other stereotype, or their play style isn't the noob way. It's fun for them.

sorries, the sucking it up part was not directed at you, just at the general population of people that should suck it up. and learning to play like them is only a suggestion; go ahead and do it or dont, just offering advice.

And yes.. That was my point Universe. Its pointless... I just have to say it in an eccentric way with a little criticism thrown in there.

he is right though, hitler was a good leader, he did bounds of good in the eyes of his country ammending to the attrocities of the WW1 treaty such as the de-militarised zone and the loss of land to poland ( the strip of land going up to a port of some kind , cant remember its name ) and czechsolvakia. (part of it atleast was german before I think. As well as reuniting Germany with Austria-Hungry or w.e the south of germany prior to WW1 was then called. He just took it one step too far calling a non-existent Alliance bluff which led to Britain and France declaring war, then there was that unfortunate business with the Genicide but up until Poland, he was the best German leader ever. If anything it was those nasty evil Allies who ruined his masterful plan.

Long live the furher! (missing some german syntax tho..)
