why do all the Alliance soldiers look like extras from Starship Troopers? Was it done deliberately to take the mickey?

I did notice that....

what really bugged me tho was the undeveloped stories, e.g. would be Sheppard book, when he gets shot and the alliance take his ID tag then BOOM save him ... wonders what it was all about... plenty of room for the series to go for a few seasons.

Did a bit of research - apparently the reason the Alliance troops look like they're off Starship Troopers is because they used the leftover outfits from there

Just watched Mrs Reynolds....damn that was one funny episode....not laughed that much for a while Tommorrow night - Jaynestown

[spoiler]I loved the first half of the episode, but felt kinda sad in the second half after the guy through himself infront of Jayne - would have liked it more if Jayne had of said something along the lines that people don't just throw money out of ships - you have to take it yourselves....and incited a nice big riot [/spoiler]

BUT BUT BUT, youl need that for later on, So you know jayne has a human side, Hes lovely really. Hes the best character in it, I felt Book tried too hard to be mysterious, Whereas obviously, Captain and wash are awesome, Jayne had the most depth out of everyone, but it never got fully explored, which is what makes him more compelling for me.

Twas a great show, great one liners and characters, and yes Jayne is the the star, my favorite quote went something like

"Hell I'll kill a man in a fair fight, or if I think he's going to start a fair fight, or if I'm getting paid, or over a woman"

After watching the show I picked up some of the inflections and even some of the words, found myself saying 'shiny' and people looking at me funny.

Re Book, at the start I though he was a fake preacher sent by the alliance to watch River, but in the movie they suggested he was a former 'Parliamentary Agent' who had become disillusioned and left that life.

Wash is probably my favourite character....don't really have a least favourite. I didn't like Keller in SGA, but I think she plays Kayleigh really well in Firefly.

Saying shiney is quite bad.....but I made a bit of a diplomatic error. In my postgrad accomodation there are a lot of Chinese people - I spent twenty minutes learning one of the phrases and then said it to him - apparently he didn't have a sense of humour. The other Chinese people thought it was hilarious though

lol I know it sounds like several of the Chinese dialects but I dont speak any of them and assumed it was just made up stuff like many shows use to imply swearing when they cant swear. Now you got me wondering what it really means, and does it make the show x-rated in China

As for Kayleigh, not the best character but very tasty, far more so than the prossy ( Companion )

Apparently its Mandarin - they got some native speakers to teach them, tried to get their pronounciations right and everything....I showed a few clips to Chinese friends, and they agree with these translations:

Not by any means the exact translations....but the gist of it means about the equivalent. I wouldn't say some of them to Chinese people unless you know them very well....and they can take a joke
