Please explain what the moral of Power Rangers is? other then kick enormous robots' asses. cause i'm all for that, that's pretty much all i watched when i was a kid, (GREEN RANGER, **Filtered** YER!) Kid's aren't becoming more stupid, the population is growing, and when it grows the amount of average to stupid people grows at a larger amount then smart people.

Brilliant oneliner. Completely empty, of course..
tis only empty if you think Darwin was right, if you think he's a fraud (as i know he was), then i'm spot on...wouldnt you agree?
If Darwin was a fraud, then saying he's a fraud is nothing but stating the obvious. So it would still be empty, albeit true.
As for you 'knowing' Darwin was a fraud, I take it you traveled with him on the Beagle.

Nice. Anyway, if you pin the entire current theory of evolution on Darwin and consider him a fraud because of said theory, I would really like to hear why. You are so convinced you're right about something that no one can ever have any proof for.

Interesting, and not.

we will evolve to be dumber when it becomes advantageous to our survival.
Can you plz fill me in on the intelligence scale you are using to compare the people of present to the past?
Good point, very clever. I share your question.

depends on who the question was aimed at?

Ask Thriller.

Are people dumber today? You cannot really answer that question in any reasonable sense.
From one point of view... I would say the opportunities to learn have increased so when people are stupid in this day and age, they really are singled out purely because as a general rule of thumb most people can now meet their intellectual potential.
Has our capacity to learn changed? Well that would depend from what period you referred to....in a general sense. Yes it will have as far as science would move to show. We are constantly evolving to suit our environment. As the years have gone by..brain over braun has become the order of things, suggesting that people with a higher capacity to learn will have done their bit..however technology and stuff (too late to list..lol) have altered the basic process of evolution..or have they.. perhaps further discussion is needed.
Are people more informed? Linking back to the first point... Scientifically yes, spiritually...common sense..definitely not. In fact I think the bloated society of the western world the knock on effect of globalisation and the new inherent laziness have all collaborated together to make some truly disturbing results... things are certainly not as grand or as meaningful as they once were.
So are people dumber today...I would say no, but I do not think we are a whole lot smarter either. As a species I do not think there is much we have actually learned worth really valuing..in our conquest for quantitative knowledge and the continued indulgence of the rot in our societies we have destroyed our very soul as a species.
matter of opinion...maybe...fundamental fact...definitely so.

Are people dumber today? I can answer that with a certain yes. Here is an example of how stupid people are today: I'm a college student, and I'm sitting in class while our teacher is asking questions about the Cold War, such as who was in it, what happened, when did it begin and end, and what was it about. Assuming you all know history, you know that it was between America and the USSR (United Soviet Socialist Republic) or more commonly known as Russia, and it was an ideological war, starting at the end of WWII and ending in 1990 with the first democratically elected official in Russia. Only three people in a class of fourty students knew this, I among them. When asked what it was about, a girl barely out of high school shouted out "oil". That very same girl goes on to ask why a 1950's duck and cover drill would not work in the event of an atomic bombing. Other people, asked the same exact questions and had similar responses to what the Cold War was about. And you wonder if people are dumber today? Well, I'd have to say yes!

i'm sorry but what does that prove?
that some people are ignorant of one aspect of history hardly means we are dumber! a persons innate common sense and problem solving is what i consider to be the messure of intelligence not how many facts or dates they can list off or what degree they have on the wall. it is these problem solving and reasoning skills that we should be teaching not memerising facts or equations that have limited uses. are we dumber no are we smarter no do we have more infomation yes

Somehow I think the telling bit of it was that people were asking why the 50s advice to duck & cover in a nuclear explosion wouldnt help you.
Given that most high school students around the age of 16 (uk at least, 16 is also high school leaving age in the uk i should point out) can grasp how deadly a nuclear explosion is and what kind of fallout it will make its rather sad that university age people dont know that duck & cover anywhere near a primary blast zone wont save or help you in any way.

so because people think the same stupid thoughts as 50 years ago they are dumber now
i'm sorry but i'm still not sure why it proves people are stupider? it proves there are stupid people but not that they are stupider now than yesterday

As the basic level of education has risen somewhat sharply over the last say 20 years, it is incomprehensible that someone could reach university without at the very least a simplist view of how radiation operates. Such topics should really be covered during high school science classes, so there should be no excuse for not knowing it.
Compare that to a 1950s level of education which was usually quite basic, rarely covered topics such as radiation (especially as we didnt know all that much back then about it) and factor in that most people on average had left schools by the time they were 14 back then to goto work.
So you see it really isnt hard to see why people in the 1950s believed the advice, but someone educated today should really know better & they should know better before they leave high school (where such topics are now covered)
