If either alliance is worth its weight there wont be a defense left standing so it will go to turn farming. even if they do as you said, and the larger builds def that are constantly taken down hr by hr, then even if they won by resource count, they still lost 10 to 1 in men,,,,,you call that a victory?

Its called the war of attrition, and if 2 evenly matched alliances could battle it out, it might be a viable option, but as long as the 2 alliances are skewed by either member count or by total population then it is rendered useless. there is no crit/nox so no way to phase or stop all strike accounts. Both att and def units die, so as long as one side or the other knows when the war will start, then that side will always win as it can mass ALL Att and Def in the opposing alliance.

many good suggestions to balance that have thus far fallen on deaf ears and that's why no one uses it.

point taken, as i said in my first post, wasn't sure on that situation, merely just something i noticed

Its ok mate, I didnt mean to come across aggressively or anything. Its just annoying when you can tell admin before something is released that it wont work, explain why it wont work, explain how it will be exploited, and its still put in anyway. (Ascended super weapon anyone?)

i still say the members...if my men/lady were to vote right nwo and wanted me to step down then i would hang my hat up...

those people that get into "power" type roles by using promises and what not...they are not leaders...

a true leader doesnt need that...the people decide whom the powerfull ones are...

example...if my members didnt decide i was there leader then i wouldnt have been able to do the things i do.

i dunno maybe im just talking hogs wash now lol i hope people get my point...im not to much a well oiled speaker as other *looks at lore and tips hat*

I agree to an extent that members have the ultimate say - if they truly wish to change something, then they will.....

But, who remembers rank-and-file members of ArchAngels? Or of any of the early alliances? Its the top players, the characters, the leaders that people now remember, and importantly, people at the time looked up to - Esker, _Apophis_, the Libras, Saz, Wolf, Elusive, Unknown, Neb, Juan, ETL, Fox, Jake, Jaxin - these guys alone had more power in every sense of the word than did a couple of hundred "normal" players. These players could rally support for almost anything, had people lapping up their every word.

Perhaps the game doesn't have as many big characters as it used to do, but even so, very often on these forums all it will take is a post by someone like Mordack saying "stop picking on the noobies" and a thread that was full of jokes at a newbies' mistakes will transform into a complaint about how unwelcoming the sgw community is. There is more power in a few well placed words by a respected member of the community than in all the members of even some of the highest ranked alliances....

That remains a problem still.

People wanting to change things because THEY WANT TO, or people want to change things because OTHERS want them to and need their support in order to do so.

Lapdogs, if you will.

There's a great deal of truth to the notion that 'ordinary players' have the power, but their power is collective. The average TLE or Omega member couldn't do a lot on their own. When I made this thread, I was thinking more in terms of individuals with power. The collective power of the average masses is the most powerful and dangerous of the lot, but difficult to rouse and unpredictable when awakened.

The thread is titled 'most powerful', not 'most delusional with thoughts of grandeur'...

but ok, then.. how do I answer this thread properly.

Its a very awkward idea. Like I said before...power comes in many many different ways...

You could say the most powerful, single player is ETL... because he managed to create this great reputation, come through on his promises and leave, only making casual visits over the past 2 years and could still most likely turn up and cause trouble. Yes, his power has greatly diminished from what it once was...but his legacy, his true power.. his reputation.. still remains.. even if a shadow of its former self. People are willing to hero worship this guy despite the fact he can be an arrogant ass, despite the fact most have never had any real dealings with him, and despite the fact he did create an empire, a super power full of some of the most pompous deluded individuals I have ever met.. (disclaimer.. I mentioned no names and maintain not everyone in said 'super power' is colourful descriptive words.. so don't be a tit and presume anything..)

The list of his accomplishments and the sheep willing to gather round and follow go on and on and on... you could very well say through his and other notable members (Diamond Dust, REK, JUAN, 3rdLibra, Elusive, Lord Dark, Xanathors, and girl.. Nuto! Thats her name..) They have shaped the game as it is to this very day, of course only two remain in any sort of force and they have that power. These people moved from the game to the community as their path of power, intentionally or not.

On the other hand.. you have other members, characters.. bastions of intelligence and/or fool hardiness and stubbornness such as Buck, Ghosty Goo, Mordack, Clarkey and Tok'ra who really all went their own way from day one and got lucky. Its basic human psychology, people listen to the members of a group who do deviate from the norm. Most of them have gained their positions in the community not from ingame merit, but rather their persona.. their reputation for all their actions a lone. In game antics, of course will always come to bare with people such as them.. but its more the idea's we represent that give them their power. Other do try, but they miss the certain something, be it blatant luck, class, charm or something beyond my current thoughts..maybe its because they take roles that are already filled? Examples would be Nimras, Tetrismonkey, Jack. In general, this group, these are the people, who started at the community and used the game as a side forum all as a route to power intentionally or not.

There are even a few who fall in between the first two groups, who came, saw and conquered on both at the same time..such as Esker and Wolf359.

In some instances there are people who have the game power, have the high alliance positions and this reflects upon their community standing to a certain degree.. such as Robe and Gunz. However, as great a guys as these people are..they are not as powerful as perhaps by right of their command they should be in most circumstances.

Then there is a pernultimate group of people.. people who.. have no major outstanding qualities (don't mean to imply that is a bad thing) but were in the right place at the right time and have had these positions of power thrust upon them. Yes, they are generally very nice, very honourable people who do have a fair amount of tacit knowledge... but no more than most. Lore is a good example.. he is a great guy.. but he is no different, he has achieved not many other things that most of the community, he is no exception to the norm, other than the position of power he has been granted. Believe me I have a very high opinion of lore.. so don't think I intend to criticise him..in a negative way, but I find him no different, no more special that a long list of people I have had the pleasure of working with over the years.

The final group, are the demi-gods so to speak. The outstanding characters who choose not in most circumstances, or in others are incapable of attaining greater power within the community, but maintain a small amount of it, or in some cases have faded over the years to this position. Such as MajorLeeHurst, Universe, Apadamek, Replimagni, Psi Kiya Trist, Su, Law, Orpheus, Tekki, ToKKo, Deni and Pops.

Of course some will be wondering if I class myself anywhere, or do I hold the delusion I have power.. well.. now that would be telling. :-D

Then entire pizza will fill you up....but one slice will do very little...

in other words the whole is greater...
You all can name drop all you like...without the "power" of the people the game doesnt even run.

If naming names is what you want...

Mordack
Deni
Rek
Robe
Clarkey
Lore
Universe
Buck
Semper
ETL
Tekki
Tealc
Bassy
Jake
Squish
Jack
Taxo
Orpheus
Noobert
GunZ
Brdavs
Free Spirit
I could go on and on
and not in that order either :)

I think any of these folks given a good cause, enthusiasm , and a soap box could move people. Unfortunately most are otherwise occupied as of late and whose presence is missing and missed in forum.
and ...
There are so many who know and who have the tools to be the most powerful not to mention the not so popular names who by virtue of investment have potential and unseen power.

The power of the masses here is a bit a miss I dont see it its not organized or directed so null :)

Yes, we know this.. we're not deranged retards. Would you like me to go and state other very obvious things? Did you know the big bright light in the sky during the day, is a star? A big burning ball, mainly made of helium and hydrogen?

The point is Odin, Mordack asked who are the most powerful people, the implication is the individual...he did not say group of, and believe me he would as Greg is very adapt at the english language...(stick with me here, it won't get much more complicated I promise).. even then, the bigger group of people, the community will always need a leader..., people always follow a leader, or leaders... and they're the people this thread centres in on.

*bows* danke for the vote of confidence in this instance Aud, and Replimag's..

Firstly, I did not insult him.. I merely stated facts.

Secondly he insulted my intelligence by posting over and over again the same point implying I was incapable of reaching such a simplistic point by myself after I had been an active member of the thread. I believe he feels that exactly what I just did to him... Of course though, if mine was an insult and derogatory.. then of course his will have to be too... you can't have it both ways.

save your warnings newbie mod. I actively make the point I take no heed of them. Derogatory is what I do...
