I'm pretty sure you wouldn't have every single American in one alliance. I'd imagine that it'd be just as personal a thing as other places. It'd just be that the same thing in Australia would cover more geographical territory, as we're more sparsely populated and have more close relationships over longer distances.

Re: "National" alliances

hmm, Few years ago I was in national alliance. SU that is, but not in SGW, it was another MMORPG game, forgot it's name. And now I'm in alliance for fun. Don't get me wrong, but it gets boring for me, if I play alone. That, and I have opportunity to learn English every day. I also saw my English from year 2005, and I couldn't believe it that I wrote such a cr.ap . :o

Re: "National" alliances

I myself am fluent to varying degrees in 5 different languages and enjoy the different cultures that people bring to the table. I've spoken to a few non English language people and their English is damned good for it being a second language. We English speaking people are arrogant bastards, wherever we go we EXPECT people to understand us and don't make an effort. But it is a rewarding experience knowing about other cultures.

Re: "National" alliances

I also noticed in this forum people having english as a natural language, (at least their profile said so...) doing less good than people having it as second (or third?) language.

Re: "National" alliances

i personaly enjoy being in the worldwide style alliances. I enjoy learning languages(taking two foreign languages at GCSE level) and i enjoy hearing about other cultures, though im from North-East england which some people find is simliar to it's own country :P

i also think not being able to understand a word someone is saying sometimes feels ignorant in some respects given that others have possibly been learnig english their entire lives

Well, English is the most widely spoken language in the world, so it is fairly reasonable to expect people to understand you.

doubt that. http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0775272.html

well i never been in national alliance, only in international and i like it. but i have to say it'd be somewhat intresting to have local's in alliance and hold RL meets.

Re: "National" alliances

lol i was going to say mandarin but you beat me to it, however at my last count i thought English was ahead of Spanish. Anyway International alliances are definitely better on the whole, as there are no restrictions to joining and therefore you open up your chancesmuch further for good members, but as expected there are a few left.

here is a nice little article to read about the english language
http://www.slate.com/id/2139611/
we have so many problems in counting how many words we have.

do you think this rule that is dog as a noun and a verb count as two words.
but does that count for every language.

I am pretty sure americans are arrogant but for good reason. We have no one to talk to but the canadians and the mexicans who keep jumping our border as neighbors. you europeans and asians out there got all these brothers. lol.

Re: "National" alliances

I probably posted here before but I feel like it again. :D

Worldwide alliances not only help coordinate strikes, but keep the enemy down at all times of the day in terms of military strength it only needs to be balanced. Seeing as most players are from either Europe/Australia/North America..it's easily done.

Plus, it helps benefit your alliance more so your farming of the server doesn't overlap and cause less naquadah for certain members.

War and Love people! That's where it all began! :smt047
