But that's not what you said, Semper. You said that..

Anyway, I disagree. Entertainment is just as much an intregral part of society, if not more so, than say a pilot. After all, society does not NEED the plane to survive, however entertainment is very much a necessity for the public's mental health. Entertainers are only paid what we allow them to be paid. Football, for instance, is a big business raking in billions each year. So why should the cornerstone of that industry not receive a large portion of the earnings? I would even go as far as to say they are more deserving of their wages than say a CEO.

I wouldn't consider the things you listed as hobbies...because they're not really lol. You may consider them to be.. but again I point out there is a very large difference between say saving someones life in a hospital and herding a leather package across grass into a net.

I would disagree on your designated structure of entertainment. It is not necessary for survival in the way your saying it is....no single part of it.. or role within it is integral to society.. nor does it have to be so commercial or even within a system of money like it is. However.. piloting and beyond do require all that because they require high levels of training and resources not available to everyone. Anyone can buy a football, make a net, do some running and locate a suitable plot of grass to abuse.

Football can rake in all those billions.. if I had my way it'd go back into the government and country it came from not filling the pockets of a bunch of puffs who couldn't get a real job.

Lee Evans brings up a brilliant point in some respects... some of these footballers standing there coming out with crap like.. "I am not enjoying my football"... not enjoying your football? £90k... over £100k a week some of these imbeciles are on.... Lee and I share sentiments when I say I'd be bloody blindly ecstatic.
