Not too surprising, as despite Tacoma's claim that we have been modifying food ever since we began farming. Using genetic techniques we have for the first time the ability to change the food at its basest level creating radical rather than gradual changes between just one generation.
Making food immune to disease & pests is still rather difficult and one part of the genetic modification process that we still dont fully understand. So it isnt all that shocking to find we will make mistakes along the way.
That however doesnt invalidate the fact that the majority of GM food is still safe for human consumption. There is also little you can do about it, as you can buy food today that had GM food in it & you'll probably never know.

in general, the advantages outweight the disadvantages
besides, the difference in taste of organic foods, is generally not worth the price difference

Actually KMA, not all GM food sources need to be identified, say forexample you get a box of corn flakes. They dont have to tell you the corn was GM

Well KMA, thats how it used to be, I'm not sure if it has changed which is possible but I'm not aware that it has.
It would be nicer if it changed but as I recall when Liebour triedt o do that they got a lot of flak off the food industry, so left it to sole products only rather than the source of food in combinded products

i remember the protests from the food industry but like most peeps, i didnt pay any attention to it. at the time i thought food was food till i watched 3 films, the world according to Monsanto, food inc and we feed the world....not easy viewing if like me you like your food.
even Kosher food isn't what its supposed to be
