Jihad happened around 627-750 (offensive) but started again during christian crusades (defensive)...however it had recurring events afterwards.

Difference is, violence is part of islam (Muhammad came from one of the tribes of Arabia, used to have wars with each others, and thus developped his religion by fighting firstly the city of Mekka before expending outside of Arabia), however, it's not part of christianism: Byzantine empire refused to mix religion with wars & conquests in example.

Considering that islam has violence in its roots unlike christianism (well, I am not saying it was all peaceful for christians in the beginning, but they didn't use war to extend, being under roman empire not launched by tribe facing tribes of +/- equal powers), and that christianism and islam are a bit similar on some points, the desire to extend for islam is again in order, just like christianism had its waves of attempts at expending. It's not 100% proven, but it's worth considering. Both are proselytist religions.

indeed violence is in their roots and that is the reason why they are so damn violent, not because its 400 years younger (lmaO)

So father then accepting the possibility of punishment after death, people mock the religion to feel better about themselves.

the reason you think chistianity is mocked more is that in the western world christainity has been around in the mainstream longer so a small joke becomes acceptable the a slightly bigger one ect ect till you get to the point we are at now give it a few hundred years and islam buddism hinduism ect ect will be caught up in the humour stakes
