Re: Oil spill
considering the amount of pressure and scrutiny he is under
id say that he deserves and probably requires a bit of r&r
i could see him developing depression from this affair very easily, and at the extreme suicidal tendencies

We wouldn't want that now would we... lets give him a hug when he gets back so he knows he's loved.../sarcasm
He took on the job of executive, he volunteered for the responsibility... You don't go out on vacation while your company is responsible for an ongoing natural disaster...
He needs to keep on top of this until the problem is solved... or quit...
What he is doing is irresponsible and quite obviously makes the companies already tarnished image even worse.

I still support BP it's the only fuel I will put in my car.
Their BP ultimate is the only fuel that's worth putting in your car
so let's begin, who has stopped useing BP cause of tuis?

what he's doing is only human, he cannot be realistically expected to meet the unrealistic and frankly idiotic demands of the USA
i wouldn't be surprised at all if his rumoured stepping down is medicaly related to stress...or if he was under doctors orders to get some r&r
he has had a pretty rough time of it, and the personal attacks he has faced are pretty low

Re: Oil spill
You know all this hate against BP is quite funny really when you think about it, as if it had been a US registered oil company they would have washed their hands of it weeks ago & said something along the lines 'thats life, nothing we can do about it' to those who are affected by the spill.
At least BP is trying to do something, that may change if the US et all keep throwing the baby out with the bath water
And the US might want to consider that it was the US congress & president of the time who approved offshore deepwater drilling against severe lobbying from the conservation/ecology lobbies who predicted that something like this could happen, but the congress & president poo-poo'd them saying they were all doomsayers & that it could never happen. Time to eat your own words folks

Re: Oil spill
I don't think it is an OTT reaction to be outraged, and demand some form of recompense for the accident. Although slandering someone simply for taking a weekend break is more than slightly absurd...

All that profit going to waste. Think also of all the shareholders, families of workers etc who are losing vast amounts of hard earned money and their futures are now uncertain.

You would have to be an idiot though to know that wouldn't be bad PR.
Judging from how he handled the company leading up to the incident and his lack public speaking skills he probably is, still though.
Kinda reminds me of a british George Bush.
@ Mollari
It's not an Idiotic expectation that he not go on vacation while the company (for which he is in charge) is directly responsible for one ofthe worst natural disasters in our history.
I know your probably po'ed that your pension fund is taking a hit on this. But if you want secuity with your money; don't invest any amount your not prepared to loose.

Re: Oil spill
There is a difference between taking a break.. and taking part in a yacht race while fisherman no longer have a source of income. Oh and BP is trying to do something? Thats a new development, well maybe not.. but its hard to tell when they're lying these days. I mean they lied about how much oil was escaping, then they lied about lying..
So yes, poor BP.. they deserve a break. I mean all they did was cause one the worst oil spill in American history? Oh and I'd be just as disgusted if the company was American/Canadian/Chinese/Russian/etc.. etc..

I do indeed agree, I'm also a bit sick of all the politicians photo ops. They all go out with their little boats and complain.. but when it comes down to it they do nothing.
The best thing either side have done so far is the $20 billion fund for victims. Its a start at the very least, of repairing the image of BP..

i've always boycotted BP due to them always being the dearest fuel supplier around...apart from Texaco that is.

Yes, your governments pensiosn fund is invested in BP, you don't know this? Where do you think the elderly in your country get their money when they retire?
