Well there is where you are wrong m8, and as I thought, your point is slander only. Thanks
Honestly, i used bit ironic thone. Still, i think you didnt mean DDE is not for everyone like DDE is only pikcing players, cuse DDE takes everything what breaths and uses attack button. Of course, in which alliance you offer the place is different.
Back to topic, what do you hink about those players who are so mad and crazy fighting against enemyes and when they join them they are loosing that "eye of the tiger"?

edit: Good post Buck (not just because you mentioned my name

)
I would like to point one thing out in accordance with the title of this thread..Identity...I will use myself as an example..
Came to DDE was basically a stray sheep, became a fighter, then turned masser, then became warmonger then politician/leader and am now a farmer.
Did I lose my identity? No I became more...some say more full of crap, some say more kool, opinions vary but my identity in this game still remains. I will mass you, fight you, farm you, lead you, beat you when it suits the days agenda.

when you are in an allaince you have other responsibilites apart from your own. there are different policies and rules to follow compared to maybe your previous alliance or lonewolf. this can take away some of the players character away from them but you simpley have to adapt or adjust to the changes.
as for the personal character of a player there are some who join allainces because they want the protection, the image the "im a tough guy now cos im in a big allaince" image or watever motivates them to do so. then there are others who just want to experience something different and as this being a game some people choose to use a different persona on here compared to real life which may reflect why they are able to adjust their views/"personal feelings" towards their "enemies" easier then if it was in rl.
my personal view is dont sell yourself out form something thats not you, do it for the right reasons and have no regrets. enjoy the game

Exactly, and the best thing about being apart of the DDE for myself and many others is the friendships. We have good times regardless of the situation. So maybe some players that joined DDE or OE want some of that...maybe they havent LOST thier identity..maybe they want something more out of this game that can only be found within

i wasnt refereing to anyone in particular or even DDE. but from experience with a few memerbs over the past year or so i beleive their feelings and views towards the enemies or the allainces they fought against turned out to be rather different to what they had been lead to beleive or expected.
jmx was one of those, once long time ago TLE enmey he joined TL for a period of time and enjoyed it there and it wasnt how he thought we were.
the view is always different from the inside compared to the outside but at the samne time the view does also become biased.
you sell yourself short when you become what you fought against, you become better when you try to change the way things are done to make the world a better place

ps jt i will have to see pics of the DDE women to get a better opinion cos our TL ladies are very sexy

I do not doubt it for a sec m8..but you know each of us have to be biased in that regard

Anyways back on topic..this is a good topic C2 I suppose the end of it is to each his own.

Nitro - I used a specific individual as an example. I'm not saying you can't fight friends. Hell ask bucky, I've been spankin' his dirty, baby-skin butt for a good part of 2 months and I consider him a buddy
I also became friends with A LOT of people that were my enemies before. Killtacular, Kikaz, mastertkd & the rest of his family and I could name a lot more people but it's 2 am here
I'm saying that one really has to lose his identity if one decides to go against all his previous principles and bail out on friends to get more "powerful", that's what I'm saying and that's what I think c2 wanted to say as well

not many people keep their actual identity for all game time.
i would think 80% of people are 2 faced you only need to ask their alliance mates to see, by this i mean look at how you alliance/Empire allies write here and compare it to you own forums how they are there
at the end of the day this is an RPG game.
what does that mean?
well it means you can be what your not, i for one do not belive REK is actually a god outside this game

JT doesn't have a massive warship sailing the mexican gulf collecting all the oil, and C2 isn't a dog neither is Jack O'Neil jack O'Neil
i would personally call the change of identity evolution
but as Caesar's question was, i agree that people lose their identity.
Identity being the one of many RPG styles that make them known to the rest of the sever. if that makes sence to you all

caesar2 wrote:What happened to "XxX"? He was such awesome player and brave masser! Oh well, he lost own identity...
We remember so many players who changed when they lost identity. Everyone starts the game, learns how to play. Few tryed the way of "statbuilding" and theyr account is than based on income and UP. Many liked the way of "farmer" more. With farming comes the problem "action/reaction".
Outcome: way os statbuilder vs. way of farmer
Here farmers can chose two different ways as well. To be a "0 defence farmer" and face weaker enemys, or to be "Farmer" and face bigger enemys.
Outcome: 0 defence farmer vs. farmer
Once farmer tryed to attack bigger players for resources, he finds out they are not giants and everyone can be massed. But "big players" dont liek to be farmed

And after testing this bigger players testing to farm an empire is so easy.
Outcome: Farmers becomes "Snipers" - because they are sat by so many allainces and empires

After few weeks, months... they are fas\cing many wars. Usualy these Farmers are creating allainces and are massing and farming together.
So why theyr loosing theyr identity? Why theyr joining empires? Why theyr wearing tags of alliances they used to farm?
We have so many examples. Players are fighting with "evil" they starts to talk via PMs, than on MSN, forums, TS. few nice words and they are in. And identity is lost. But Farmer is gone as well, cuse now he becames "random masser" or covard whos using alliance tag and empire name to advertise self, but honestly, barely he knows, hes just a looser who sold own sould, own identity.
Dear GW comunity, what do you think about warmongers, lone wolfe players, farmers or snipers joining alliances/empires they used to fight so much?
Author's note: A specific recruiting system of an empire is recruiting throught wars. They start war, destroy alliance and recruit fighters. There are many many other examples from past or today.
Great post mate

I feel once you join an empire you do loose your identity, i may be wrong, ive always since i joined this game kept to my own, that will not change, ive seen many dissapear into empires, probably one of the reason ive always stayed away.

When I first started playing the game I was a solo Tauri who farmed anyone that had a lot of naq out. I never hit the same player more than twice a week and I was blissfully unaware of any power houses in the game. I threw caution to the wind and took any good hit I could find. Sigh the good old days.
Lone wolves can do what they want and it can be very liberating. However, after a while I found being a lone wolf boring. The game mechanics are not hard to master and I needed something more to keep me interested in playing. The downside of being in an Alliance is that your actions impact on the rest of the team and there are basic rules that need to be followed for the good of the team.
Alliances can make the game more fun to play. Some players are attracted to power bases and others prefer to "stick to the man".
Its human nature to be drawn to a power base because most people play to win.
Like minded players attract.Personally speaking, I have a soft spot for lone wolves even though some annoy the crap out of me in our alliance logs. Although descending the more persistant ones is fun
I admire free standing alliances because the game needs them. I do wonder if a star has died when well known lone wolves join empires and seem to disappear into a black hole but everyone has the right to chose how they prefer to play.
The most important thing is to make friends and have fun along the way.Buck wrote:I for one, Would love to See Jedi Tank, Qacol, Tekki and Rodwolf, All come and play for Nemesis, Come'on....
That being said I see I need to smack Buck again for leaving me off his wish list...
