split the races! thats a way of bring asgard down, an would lead to power shifts naturally aswell as the dominate race say tauri would loose power when they ascend and tolan would grow in power. it makes sense to split them , asgard and ancient arent the same race, tauri and tolan arent same race.

i cant see any better way to even it out and bring down asgard power

I agree that splitting the races is a good idea...one that merits a thread all it's own...

Hmmm, let's see...no no and no...

the reps will never have a shot at this as we have half the players the goa'uld and asgard have and 4/10's the tauri amount. This is in no way a good idea, it wont make the other races shoot for control as the other three of us cant compete with the asgards unless everyone makes 500 rep multi's and builds them all up.

what would you say if i said "the asgard bonus isnt good enough, make it 35% instead".

answer me that...you'd want to shoot me, so, lets shoot this down.

i reckon its a good idea, but whos in control shouldnt be calculated on the entire universe because inactive accounts shouldnt count, it should instead be calculated on like the top 1000 players.

thats a good idea, it means those outside the top 1000 of the controling race get a chance to get in.

one draw back top 1000 is filled with ascended so the tolan ancient or system lords would probably be in control.

as for reps not having a chance, thats not our faults if ppl dont wanna be reps

It doesn't look so peachy when a race other than the Asgard would be in permanent control does it?

Again this reeks of "I want bonuses for my race, and if you aren't my race then unlucky". An oversimplification perhaps, but there's a definite element of that in there.



I'm opposed to the idea as it stands. Sweeping bonuses to a single race based on how good some of its players are is not a good path to follow. The races are not united, and they never will be (for example, since when have the Goa'uld been united?!).

Still, before I make that concrete, what bonuses are you guys actually proposing?

Another thing to think about is new players coming in might opt for the race in charge for the extra benefits, and that race will just continue to grow in size and make it harder and harder for anyone else to get ahead. I admit it seems like a good idea, but all the implications...I just don't know.

ok to respond to recent posts

first if races are split new members could only join 4 out of the 8 so wouldnt make much difference, second many new players wouldnt know how the game is played therefore will most likley choose race they want without paying much attention to bonus.
or bonus could be hiden from those not playing to make sure theres no bias

I don't know. How do most people hear about the game? Friends? I'm willing to think the friends would let them in on the little secret. When I joined, my friend told me about the races and bonuses...LOL That would be a really hard thing to regulate. I'm not saying it CAN'T work, but just that there's so many IF factors that need to be worked out. For now, I'm not buying it as a good thing.

I hate to admit it, but if I'd come in and knew about an extra bonus for the one special race...I so would've picked it. And, I can't say there isn't a tiny bit of thought into switching over if this were to take affect. I don't know that I would....it would depend on how it played out. But, if the one in power, is given MORE power...I see that only making the gap between their power and the rest growing.

Yet you are quite happy to reward a race that really is not working "together", but is in fact simply enjoying the circumstantial status of being the most popular with the strong players at the time?

I like this idea, but keep it in the top 1000 or so maybe 1500, this way no one is making millions of non in control multi accounts.

i know the asgaurd in the top 1000 are tough but i can break some of their defence with my superior tauri ability. or a replicator can sab them, allowing for others to go in and finish the job. and goa'uld can . . . um. . . make a move for power when everyones defence and offensive weapons are destroyed.

Perhaps to get the others to stop complaining give the second place race like 4% then 3rd place 3% and so on. last place gets nothing. seriously make it.

yea the idea of it being based on the top 1000 or 1500 maybe even 2000 is good, these being the "leaders" of each race it would make sense to count there power and not the power of 10k non-active accounts.

the tauri in top 2000 can easily attack asgard at same rankings, as can reps sab them. plus when play ascend which happens alot in the top 1000 the accounts are reset and that would bring down race power.

giving other bonus for 2nd takes away from fighting for first, dont you think? why battle for 5% when you could settle for 3% one bonus it better.

for those that say they have friends in other races, heres my answer

dont attack them! do you have to? NO if you are asgard you are hardly friends with every tauri and goauld or rep, just attack who you can.
