i grew up in southeast alaska where we could get 4 feet over night some times. The last winter I was their we had a total accumulation of over 35 feet. Snow was piled up so high on the sides of the roads you couldn't see houses or anything. Luckily we lived by the ocean (which doesn't freeze in southeast alaska) so big dump trucks would have to carry the snow to an overhang at the beach where they would just dump it in the ocean

could you see Russia from your backyard? :smt043

Ya I'll get back to you when there is like a foot and a half or 2 feet on the ground here (a foot is 30cm)... not much now.

Yeah, it hasn't really stopped snowing here for the last few days. We don't have massive piles of it like the northerners though it's still pretty cool (pun intended 8-[ ).

From the Met Office:
Further snow showers have given an additional 5 to 10 cm of snow across much of eastern Britain today. This has taken lying snow amounts to as much as 70 cm in places, for example across Northumberland. Official reports indicate more than 10 cm in parts of southeast England, locally more, with 10 to 15 cm across the far southwest of Cornwall. High parts of northeast Scotland currently have around 75 to 100 cm. If you have seen snow recently, please let us know by using the link below. Issued at 1549 on Thu 02 Dec 2010.
