Just read the whole thing.

One word: Damn!

My ideas: (stolen from intersperced posts and improved)
Your mothership will have energy generators, which can be built into a capacity slot. Each generator costs as much as a weapon, and same capacity costs. Then there are cloaking devices, which are like weapon or shield capacities in the fact that they get more expensive.

When you go into battle, you see some nifty little select boxes... Weapon Power, Shield Power, Cloak power, and what to target offensively. This is also set defensively in your command center.

Basically, you divide your power between the three stats, with a max of 50% on two, and then choose where you will get a 30% casualty boost in exchange for a 10% penalty on the other two areas. The options would be weapons, shields, cloak, and power generators.

And, for massing convenience, there could be a nifty little "remember me" checkbox.

Thus, shields would most often be targetted (if you don't get passed shields your bonus is wasted.)

The flaw I see in your plan is that it would favour the already powerful as they would be able to purchase the highest upgrade instantly.

There needs to be a higher cost - a couple of ideas:

1. You have the option of switcing your mothership cloak on or off - if it is switched on, then, like Realm Alert, there is a cost to your naq production - but the reduction is instant, you cannot just switch it on, then off again during a turn.

2. If the enemy mothership does 'see' the cloaked mothership, then significantly more damage will be caused to the cloaked ship, because defensive weapons capacity is halved, due to the power required to maintain teh cloak.

3. You have the option of switching your mothership cloak on or off - if it is switched on, then you need 'more' people to crew your mothership (this would assume the idea of training units to crew motherships comes into force).

Or you could have a combination of the above.

This opens a whole raft of other ideas though......

New weapons upgrades to seek out cloaked ships.

A Mothership tech upgrade - Improved sensors...........


I like this idea alot and for the switching on and off after turns and before so u get ur income u could make it like the commander thing but an effect of 10 turns as ur cloak sheild recharges

Techs could be like the merc commander ecept more time ...

Tech 1 : After buying tech 1 for ur MS it takes 30 turns to recharge and lasts for 10 turns

Tech 2 : After buying tech 2 for ur MS ur claok will last for 15 turns and only take 20 turns to recharge

Tech 3 : After buying tech 3 ur MS wills till last for only 15 turns but will only take 10 turns to recharge.

Also when spying u can now see their mothership and if they have 1 .If ur cloak was on it could hide the fact u have 1.

BUT...

I think the cloak should only be used like realm alert as a DEFENCE advantage and not an attack one

Great idea man, i think there should be more options for the mothership.
More ascension points for the mothership as well in my opinion

a somewhat off topic suggestion. what if we were to make shields for each side of the ship. for example: set shields to 50% on the forward capacitors, 20% on left and right and 10% on rear shields.

in this manner you could take the spot you believe would be most highly targeted and increase the defense there. or even build shields for that specific side of the ship.

in addition you could change your weapons spread to behind certain parts of the ship. perhaps even an option in attacking for which part of the enemy mothership to attack

the cloak could come into effect here too by making it so that if you are at cloak then your shields are gone making your weapons on the targeted side more vunerable. this would help in both massing and defense. you could make one "super" part of your ship if you are in a defensive posture while in offensive you could kill the mothership off in "sectors" much like getting damage to specific parts to your mothership

just tossing some ideas around

cloaks sound cool, I think the Goa'uld should have a cloak bonus, like in the show.

amazing ideas but i would feel really sorry for forum if he tried to code it all (im guessing) it would take alot of code

but if forum happens to have the time great mother ships are way to simple at this point


but think of it from forum's point of view several new techs,new cloaks, crew stuff and think of the beta versions of the mother ships im guessing that it would take a month or more (possible alot longer if forum has other stuff to do) so i doubt well see all this happen but hopefully some of it forum will code

This would add quite a bit of strategy to the mothership aspect of the game which is good. And perhaps of targeting the enemies shield/ weapons. Perhaps there should be an image of the enemy ship and you dont know where each of these stats are located??? This way people need experience to win the fights aswell???

That would be time consuming but maybe there could be an option of motherships vs mothership only?

It could be another option like attack, spy, sabb and raid. Not sure what the benefit would be though.

yeah this idea is good cus there needed to be some thing done with mother ships really badly! i didnt know that u could buy crew cus in my training window there is no guy that says train Mother Ship officer or some thing i thought u could only buy weapons?
